Description
Nov. 27, 1934. BOCK LABEL GAME Filed Feb. 26, 1934 Jun" JACK BO CK NVE/V 7'0 BY;%; Z
ATTORNEY Patented Nov. 27, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFE ,2 Claims.
This invention relates generally to games and more specifically to games wherein both advertisers and consumers derive benefit thereby.
The main object of the invention is the provision of structure whereby the inner surface of a label aflixed to the walls of any transparent vessel containing colored fluid contents is invisible as viewed through the said vessel and the contents thereof.
A further object of the invention is the provision of structure which conduces to the consumption of .the fluid contents of any vessel from motives of curiosity to render the inner surface of thelabel visible through the empty or partially empty vessel.
The inner surface of the label aflixed to the above mentioned vessel is adapted to have printed thereon any predetermined marks, signs or phrases from which a winner can be determined after the emptying of the contents of said vessel to render visible the inner surface of said label.
For example, when a host or hostess is giving a party, cocktails may be poured in vessels having labels affixed to the outer surface thereof. The marks, signs or phrases on the inner surface of the said labels cannot be seen until all the cocktails have been consumed. At this time, the host or hostess announces the mark, sign, phrase, number or symbol which is the winner.
These objects and other incidental ends and advantages will hereinafter appear in the disclosure and will be pointed out in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawing showing a preferred embodiment of the invention, similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the severalviews.
Figure 1 is a front view of a bottle partially filled with liquid contents showing part of the inner surface of the label visible above the lim-' iting surface of the contents.
Figure 2 is an enlarged sectional view of Figure 1 through the plane 22.
Figure 3 shows the outer printed surface of the label to be affixed to a transparent bottle or vessel, while Figure 4 is the printed inner surface of said label.
In accordance with the invention and in accordance with the accompanying drawing, a lo transparent vessel such as that designated in the accompanying drawing having a neck portion 10 and a body portion 11 is provided with a label to be affixed to the said body portion and having outer and inner surfaces 12 and 13 re- 5 spectively. The outer surface 12 of said label is printed in the customary manner for advertising purposes as exemplified in the drawing for the sale of beer. The inner surface of said label may have printed or drawn thereon any .0 unique or artistic design containing a mark, nu-
meral or symbol indicative of any predetermined value.
As shown in the accompanying drawing, 15 represents the upper surface of the fluid contents of the bottle shown, while 16 represents the mark, sign or symbol determining a winner.
It is to be noted that the inner surface 13 of the label cannot be seen below the limiting surface 15 of the fluid contents of the bottle, since, as part of the invention, the inner surface of the label is printed with an ink, the color of which has the same wave-length as the fluid contents of the bottle, thereby making visibility thereof impossible through the bcttleand fluid contents.
In order not to efiace the printing or drawing of the inner surface of the label, said surface is provided with a transparent cement or pasting means for purposes of affixing the label on the body of a bottle or vessel.
Figure 2 shows very distinctly how the inner surface of a label looks through a bottle of beer partially consumed. That portion of the inner surface of the label extending above the surface of the fluid contents becomes visible while the portion below remains invisible.
It becomes very obvious that the invention herein may be applied to the walls of any transparent vessel and that the inner surfaces of the several labels used in commerce may have printed and drawn thereon anything fanciful or artistic for game purposes as aforementioned.
- It is understood that minor changes and variations in the location, structure and material of the several parts may all be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention and without departing from the scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A game of chance comprising a transparent vessel containing a fluid, a label having an inner surface with marking matter and being aflixed to said vessel, the inner surface of said label beingmarked with coloring matter reflecting the same wave length as that transmitted by the coloring matter of the fluid contents and the vessel combined.
2. A game of chance comprising a transparent vessel containing a fluid, a label having an outer and inner surface with marking matter, a transparent cementing material to aflix said label to the outer wall. of the transparent vessel, the inner surfaces of said label being marked with coloring matter reflecting the same wave length as that transmitted by the coloring matter of the fluid contents and the vessel combined. 115
