Application November 17, 1932 Serial No. 643,005
3 Claims.
This invention relates to key holding devices in which a plurality of ordinary keys are attached to a support common to all.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide a multiple key holder suited to be carried in the pocket of the owner, and from which any key may be operatively extended at will.
A further feature is in the provision of means whereby each key is easily identified without trial, the remaining keys being compactly held.
Another purpose is to produce a key holder in which each individual key may be positively selected in the dark as well as in the light.
These several advantageous objects are accomplished by the novel construction and combination of simple parts hereinafter described and. shown in the annexed drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in whichz Figure 1 is a front elevational view of an embodiment of the device, one of the keys being partially extended.
Figure 2 is a rear elevational View of the same.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional View taken on line 3--3 of Fig. 1.
The device as shown consists of a circular plate 10 of metal, its main at central portion being shaped to present a raised rim 11 of arcuate cross section having a plurality of spaced openings 12 near its outer edge 13.
Pivotally mounted on this edge are a series of spring clips 14, having engaging snap hooks 15 adapted to detachably engage the openings in the shanks of miscellaneous keys 16.
A coiled tension spring 1'7 normally engages over the clips 14, the spring being endless and positioned in the cavity of the rim 11 where it is retained by a series of spaced inwardly-bent prongs 18 sheared from the rim. A loop 14 is provided on the clips 14 to accommodate the cylindrical shape of the coiled spring 17.
A dial 19 is affixed to the upper iiat surface of the plate 10 and carries at spaced intervals, uniform with the clips 14, a corresponding number of characters 20, as the numerals shown,
these characters being preferably raised and provided with a radium or light producing face. A pair of clock- dial pointers 21 and 22 are mounted on the shank of the rivet 23.
Disposed over the dial is a convex cover 24 of transparent material, similar to a watch crystal.
but unbreakable, its edges seating against the raised inner portion of the rim 11, and it is held to the plate 10 by an axial rotatable rivet 23 having shoulders to press the dial 19 against the plate.
One head of said rivet may be slotted so that it may be rotated by a screw-driver, as shown, or it might be otherwise constructed to permit ready rotation.
to read six oclock.
As changes of construction could be made within the scope of the invention, it is intended that all matter contained in the foregoing description or shown in the accompanying drawing shall be interpreted as illustrated and not in a limiting sense.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to secure by Letters Patent, istl. A key holder comprising a circular plate having a raised rim of arcuate cross section containing a plurality of perforations adjacent its edge, a spring hook clip pivoted on said rim in each perforation, said hooks being removably engageable with a key, an endless coiled tension spring disposed in said rim to retain said clips against the plate, means on said plate to secure said spring, and means on the reverse side side of said plate to identify each key.
2. A key holder comprising a disc having a plurally perforated rim, a key engaging snap hook pivotally engaged in each perforation, resilient means to confine said hooks against the disc, a dial on the opposite side of said disc bearing indicia relative to each key, and a transparent cover over said dial.
3. A key holder comprising a disc having a plurally perforated rim, a key engaging snap hook pivotally engaged in each perforation, a dial on said disc bearing illuminated indicia relative to each snap hook, a transparent cover over said dial, and means for retaining said dial and cover on said plate.
ANTON REIL.
