UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE CHARLES KOLODNY, OF BROOKLINE, MASSACHUSETTS CARD TABLE Application filed August 29. 1930. Serial No. 478,748.
This invention relates to furniture and Figure is a perspective view of one of more particularly to a card table of the type the drawer supports. used when playing bridge and other games. In describing the invention, I shall refer One object of the invention is to provide a to the drawings in which similar reference 5 table of this character wherein a drawer is characters designate corresponding parts 50 slidably mounted at each side of the table throughout the several views. This table is for movement from a closed position beneath rectangular in shape so as to accommodate the table to an extended or opened position fourplaye rs and has a padded top 1 and deand to provide improved means for slidably pending side bars 2 faced by strips 3 and mounting the drawers and guiding movebraced y COIIIBI Cleats A bracket?) is 55 ment thereof. secured to each side bar near one end thereof Another object of the invention is to proand these brackets support pins 6 upon which vid drawer su porting element ea h of are mountedlegs 7 adapted to be swung from which may be formed from a single strip of he dependmg table supporting position 111eta1and very firmly secured to ide trips shown In Figure 1 t0 :1 folded position 0 of the tabl close against the table top as shown in Fig- Another object of the invention is to so 6 2- Spacers 8 are fitted upon the pins be mount, th drawers th t th t bl a b tween the legs and side bars 2 and in order to vided with supporting legs adapted to b limit downward movement of the legs and swung from an extended position to a folded brace the g when g to a lowered p i- 65 ositio b th th tabl t with t i tion'for use, there has been provided folding terference by the drawers or their supports. braces A th bj t f th i ti i t so Each side bar and 1ts facing strip is Formed form the drawers that each may hold an ash with H p 81 118111 a P I table t d l amirror d so di h i to receive a drawer 11 which is shdable 70 ror that it may be easily used by a'person thmugh h p g from a i i 9 seated at the table when the-drawer is open. closed posltlon to an. Opened posmon. and m WVith these and other objects in view my t i E the drawers and guide and invention consists in the novel features of shding movement thereof i has Construction, combination and arrangement been pro lded supports or tltlClw 12. [hose 1.)
tracls are of a du lic'ite' construction and of parts, as Wlll be herelnafter referred to i p d 1 1 d 1 each consists of a strip of angle metal bent 2111' partlcu y pomte out m he to form side bars 13 and 14 joined at their specification and clalms.
I Y inner ends by a crossbar 15 as shown in Fign the accompanymg drawlngs: formlng ure 5. Tacks or other suitable fasteners '16 8o Pa of thls'applicat'ion are driven through the vertical flange of the Figure 1 1S a p p View Of the side bar 14 to secure this bar against the side proved Card table; bar of the table against which it its and a Figure 2 is a bottom P 0f the table similar fastener 17 is driven through an car 40 With the legs folded; 18 extending transversely from the outer end 35 igure 3 is a transverse sectional view of the side bar 13 to secure this our firmly taken along the line 3-3 of Figure 2; against the side bar through which the Figure 4: is a fragmentary sectional view drawer passes at one side of the opening 10. through the table taken along the line 4-4 By this arrangement, the track will be firmly of Figure 1; mounted and will slidably support the drawer and not only guide sliding movement of the drawer but also limit its inward movement by engagement of the inner end of the drawer with the vertical flange of the cross bar 15.
A pull ring 19 is carried by each drawer so that it may be easily drawn outwardly as shown in Figures 1 and 4 and referring to these figures and to Figure 3, it will be seen that each drawer is divided by a transversely extending partition 20 to form a front compartment 1 to receive an ash tray 22 formed of china'or any other fireproof material. A partition 23 divides the rear or inner portion of the drawer into compartments 24: and 25 and in the compartment 24 is disposed a mirror 26 held at an incline by strips 27 and 28 upon which it rests as shown in Figure 3. Pencils or any other articles desired may be kept in the compartment 25. Since the tracks and legs are mounted as shown in Figures 3 and 4, the legs may be easily moved from a supporting position to a folded position without interference by the tracks or drawers.
While I have described the elements best adapted to perform the functions set forth, it is obvious that various changes in form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the principles of the invention.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
1. A track for a sliding drawer having side bars and a cross bar connecting their inner ends, each bar having a vertically disposed flange and a horizontal flange extending inwardly therefrom, the vertical flange of one side bar being adapted to be secured in flat contacting engagement with an inner side face of a side bar of a table and the other side bar of the track having an ear extending transversely from its outer end and adapted to be secured against a side bar of a table through which a drawer passes at one side of a drawer receiving opening formed therein.
2. A track for a sliding drawer formed from a strip of angle metal bent in spaced relation to its ends to form side bars connected at their inner ends by a cross bar, each bar of the track having a vertical flange and a horizontal flange extending inwardly from the lower edge thereof, one side bar of the track having its vertical flange forward with fastener receiving openings whereby it may be secured in fiat contacting engagement with the inner side face of a side bar of a table and the other side bar of the track having the outer end portion of its vertical flange extended and bent to form a side leg secured against a side bar of the table through which a drawer passes at one side of a drawer receiving opening formed therein.
3. A track for a sliding drawer having side
