My invention relates to a display cabinet and has for its principal object, the provision of a relatively simple, inexpensive and etlicient cabinet or container that is especi ally designed for displaying and holding a supply of small objects of merchandise such as the metal boxes that are utilized for bold ing compacts of face powder, rouge and like cosmetics.

It will be understood that compacts of face powder rouge and the like are manufactured in various colors or shades and that the manufacturer places such differently colored or shaded compacts in small metal boxes or containers that are uniform in size shave and linish and it is one of the objects of my invention to provide a convenient cabinet-that will receive and hold a number of boxes orcontainers containing the differently colored or shaded compacts and the forward end of the cabinet being constructed so as to receive and display an open compact box or container, thereby enabling the purchasers to observe the color and style ot the compacts and enable the salesman to readily obtain a compact of the color desired by the purchaser.

Further objects of my invention are, to provide a display cabinet that is relatively simple in construction, inexpensive of manufacture and which will greatly facilitate the handling and merchandising of small articles such as face powder, rouge and the like or any articles that are packed in comparatively small containers.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts that will hereinafter be more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a d splay cabinet constructed in accordance with my in vention.

My improved display cabinet is in the form of an elongated substantially rectangular box and its structure includes a bottom panel 10, side walls 11, rear end wall 12 and a front end wall 13. The front portions of the side 1929.. Serial No. 382,127.

jln some instances it may be found desirable to arrange a flange or ledge on the upper face of the bottom panel 10 at the front edge'thereof or the upper surface of the bottom panel within the pocket in front of wall 13 may be recessed for the reception of the displayed article of merchandise.

Seated in the bottom panel between the front and rear walls 13 and 12 are the low-er ends of Vertically disposed pins 15 that are preferably spaced equi-distant apart and said pins being located in a plane midway between the side walls 11.

These pins divide the space within the box or container into a series of communicating compartments that are substantially equal in area and which are adapted to receive a plurality of piles of compact containing boxes or other small articles of merchandisethat can be packed or arranged one on top of the other. By utilizing pins instead of solid partition walls between the compartments within the cabinet the compact containing boxes or other articles of merchandise may be more readily handled by the salesman and further, such construction enables the cabinet to be more conveniently cleaned. Fu1tl161,tl16 provision of a plurality of compartments within the cabinet enables a number of differently colored compacts to be stored within the cabinet and consequently facilitating the merchandising of the contained articles or packages.

The boX or container that is arranged for display in the pocketat the forward end of the cabinet is open when the cabinet is posi tioned within or upon a showcase, thereby en'- abling prospective purchasers to readily ebserve the color and character of the merchandise.

Thus it will be seen that I have provided a display container that is especially designed for holding and displaying small articles of merchandise such as the containers of powder and rouge compacts and which cabinet is relatively simple in construction inexpensive of manufacture and very effective in performing the functions for which it is intended.

It will be understood that minor changes in the size, form and construction of the various parts of my improved display cabinet may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the spirit of my invention, the scope of which is set forth in the appended claims.

I claim as my invention:

1. In a display cabinet, an elongated open topped rectangular box-like container, a pocket formed at one end of the container for the reception of an article to be displayed which pocket is open at front and top and a series of partition pins seated in the bottom of the container and projecting upwardly therefrom which pins are arranged equidistant apart and positioned midway between the side walls of the container.

2. In a display cabinet, an elongated open topped rectangular container, portions of the side walls and bottom of which container are extended from one end thereof to form a pocket for the reception of a displayed article of merchandise which pocket is open front and top and a series of partition pins seated in the bottom of the container and projecting upwardly therefrom, said pins being arranged midway between the side walls of the container and spaced equidistant apart lengthwise of said container.

3. In a display cabinet, an elongated open topped receptacle provided at its forward end with a pocket for the reception of a displayed article of merchandise lugs positioned on the front of the bottom of said pocket adjacent to the sidewalls thereof for holding the displayed article of merchandise within said pocket and a series of partition pins seated in the bottom of the receptacle and projecting upwardly therefrom.
