Description
Oct. 20, I931. M. s. LAWRENCE ADJUSTABLE TROUSERS PROTECTOR enter; W
Patented Oct. 20, 1931 PATENT OFFICE IAUDE S. LAWRENCE, OE ALLIEDA, CALIFORNIA.
ADJUSTABLE TROUSERS PROTECTOR Application filed October 15, 1930. Serial No. 488,904.
The present invention has for its pbject the provision of an improved mens trousers protector whose purpose is to prevent soiling or discoloration by occasional involuntary urinal leakage of the wearer. Y The aflliction mentioned causes soiling and discoloration of mens trousers, requiring frequent cleaning and resultant very considerable wear in the region of the soiled or dis-- in colored parts of the trousers.
My improved protector prevents discoloration of the trousers, is comfortable to wear as an attachment for the trousers, may be attached by any one who can sew, is adapted for l6 adjustment to. meet the comfort and convenience of the wearer of the trousers. may be quickly and easily detached, washed and replaced and, generally, insures comfort of the wearer and not only prevents discolora- W tion of the trousers but also the excessive wear to which trousers are subjected at the snaps whose sections are carried. respec-i tively, by the protector and the inside of the trousers leg. and adjustable tapes attached to the protector and connected by detachable snaps to suitable points of the trousers leg,
for instance. in the region of the outer side seam and the watch pocket thereof.
The foregoing detailed specification of construction is set forth in connection with the particular embodiment of the invention hereinafter described and which is shown in the accompanying drawings.
It is to be understood. however. that the invention is susceptible of modification and that it is not limited to details specified. ex-
cent as specificallv included in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1, is a rear view of mens trousers equipped with the protector. the rear of the trousers being removed to better display the device and one of the pockets being thrown back; Fig. 2, is a detail view of the protector; and, Fig. 3, is a section therethrough.
The trousers to which the protector is applied, are designated 1. v
The protector is shown, generally, at 2. The detachable fastenings for connecting the protector to the trousers are designated 3. The adjustable tapes are shown at 4 and thedetachable connections for attaching the tapes to the trousers, are shown at 5.
The protector 2, as shown, comprises outer fabric facings 2' and a waterproof sheet 2 constituting an interlining between the facings 2' and stitched thereto. Thus, the protector is light ,cool, waterproof, and comfortable and adapted to be laundered and used a good many times without replacement.
The snap fastenings 3 are located in the general region of the inner seam of the trousers leg and at the front'of said leg, inside of the leg. These fastenings may be of the well-known two-part construction, one half of which is sewed to the trousers and the other half to the protector so that quick and easy attachment or detachment may be had.
The 'tapes- 4 are connected to the free or loose part of the protector and have an adjustable buckle 4' so that the tapes may be lengthenedor shortened. The snap fasteners 5 for the tapes are of the usual two-part construction, one part being sewed to the trousers and the other part carried by the 80 tape, in each instance. The fasteners 5 may be located at points on the inside of the trousers such as will cause the protector to con- 7 form to the inside of the trousers leg and retain it in position without discomfort to the wearer.
While I do not limit the invention to the precise location of the fasteners 5, as shown in the drawings, nevertheless such locations are convenient for the purpose. One .of the points of attachment of the tapes may be in the region of the watch pocket and the other in the region of the outer side seam of the trousers leg.
What I claim is 1. A detachable protector for mens trou- A sers, comprising a water-proof sheet, means carried by one part of said sheet for detachably connecting the protector to the inside of a leg of the trousers in the region of the crotch thereof, and adjustable tapes, each having one of its ends attached to another part of the protector and its other end pro" vided wlth means for its detachable connection to the inside of a leg of the trousers at a point distant from the crotch, thereby to hold the protector against the inside of the trousers leg. 7
2. The combination with a mans trousers, of snap fastenings attached thereto at difierent points of the inside seam of one of the trousers legs in the region of the crotch thereof, snap fastenings attached to the trousers at points distant from the crotch and a water-proof protector having snap fastenings at one of its edges adapted to adjustably engage the first-named group of snap fastenings and providedon another ofits edges with adjustable tapes having snap fastenings adapted to detachably engage the aforesaid sna fastenin located at points distant from t e crotch, t ereby to hold the protector against the inside of the trousers leg.
In testimony whereof I afiix m s1 ature. MAUDE S. LAWEE
