Description
I July 28, 1931. A. ADLER 1,816,714
LINGERIE PAD Filed May 1. 1950 Patented July 28, 1931 UNITED STATES PATEQNT OFFICE ALEXANDER ADLER, OI YONKEBS, NEW YORK LINGERIE PAD Application filed m 1, 1980. Serial in. 448,968.
I to provide a novel and ornamental device of this character which may be worn without detracting from the appearance of the wearer.
A second important object of the invention is to provide an improved device of this character having a waterproof side against which flower stains or the like may rest, the device thus reventing staining or moistening of the clothing or skin.
A third important object of the invention is to provide a novel combination of lingerie pad and flower holding ribbons.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically claimed. In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device supporting a bunch of flowers;
Figure 2 is an elevation of the inner or soft side of the device;
Figure 3 is an elevation of the outer or waterproof side thereof;
Figure 4 is an enlarged section on the line 4-4 of Figure 2;
Figure 5 is a view similar to Figure 1 but a modified form of the invention;
Figure 6 is a view of the modified form similar to Figure 3;
Figure 7 is an enlarged detail section on the line 7-7 of Figure 6;
Figure 8 is an enlarged detail section on the line 88 of Figure 6;
Figure 9 is a view of theo'uter side of a further modification;
Fi ure 10 is a view of the inner side of this urther modification;
Figure 11 is an end view of the last modification. I i
In the construction of the invention, the body forms an elongated pad somewhat lozenge shape, the angles being rounded as shown. This body is formed of at least two thicknesses of suitable material which. in the forms shown in Figures 2 to 8, inclusive, consist of a velvet or plush layer or side 10, and a layer at side 11 of waterproof fabric. In the form shown in Figures 9 and 10 both layers or sides 12 are of velvet or plush.
' In each form, ribbons 13 extend in opposite directions from the central portions of the side edges and each ribbon has one end doubled and inverted between the layers as at 14. Through this doubled end and one side extends a staple 15 and a second staple 16 extends through this end and through both layers or sides. Preferably the staples are inverted from the outer or waterproof side so as to have minimum contact with th skin or clothing. i
In the form shown in Figure 2 a safety pin 17 is carried bythe soft side so that the pad may be attached to the clothing wherever desired. v
In the modified forms the inner side carries an elastic band 18 which may be slipped over a limb of the user to hold the pad in desired position.
In use, the pad is laid against the flowers F or other articles and the ribbons brought around such articles and tied. The pad is then attached to the wearers clothing by the pin 17, if one form is used, or the band 18 is slipped into position for attachment to the limb.
There has thus been provided a simple and eflicient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.
It is obvious that changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without departing from the principles thereof. It is not, therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described but it is desired to include all such as come within the scope claimed.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed is;
1. In a device of the kind described, a pad having one side formed of waterproof material and the other side formed of relatively soft material means on thev soft side for securing the pad in position on a wearer, and flexible means secured between the 6 sides of the pad and arran ed to overlie the waterproof side of the pa for the support of a bouquet.
2. In a device of the kind described, a pad having a soft side and a waterproof 10 side, an elastic band having a part secured between the sides and extending over the soft side to fit the limb of a wearer, and means on the waterproof side for securing an article to the pad. v
3. In a device of the kind described, a pad having a soft side and a waterproof side, an elastic band having a part secured between the sides and extending over the soft side to fit the limb of a wearer, and a 10 bouquet holder carried by the waterproof side of the pad.
4. In a device of the kind described, a pad having a soft side and a waterproof side, an elastic band having a part secured between the sides and extending over the soft side to fit the limb of a wearer, and rib bonsecured intermediate its ends between the sides of the pad, the projecting ends of the ribbon adapted to overlie the water- 0 proof side of the pad and have their free ends tied together to hold a bouquet.
5. In a device of the kind described, pad having a soft side and a waterproof side, a safety pin carried by the soft side for securing the pad to anarticle of apparel, and means having a part positioned between the sides and associated with the waterproof side for securing an article to the pad. r
40 6. In a device of the kind described, a
' pad having a soft side and a waterproof side, a safety pin carried by the soft side for securing the pad to an article of apparel, and a bouquet holder anchored between the sides and associated with the waterproof side of the pad.
'7. In a device of the kind described, a pad having a soft side and a waterproof side, a safety pin carried by the soft side 3 for securing the pad to an article of apparel, and flexible means extending between the sides of the pad and arranged to overlie the Waterproof side of the pad for the support of a bouquet.
5 In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
ALEXANDER ADLER.
