It is the purpose of my invention to provide a safe particularlyl suitable as a tabernacle which is strongly'constructed, substantially burglar proof and yet readily accessible to W i5 authorized entry.
In accordance Ywith my invention I provide a vault preferably a double walled vault having sliding doors which are automatically, simultaneously operable for closing the en- The Vdoors and vault are so constructed that there is no opening through the bottom of the vault at the bottom of the doors through which 'articles may be [dropped when removing them from or placv ing them in the vault.
In the illustrated embodiment of my invention I have shown a vault having a pair'of doors which meet at the center and swing A away from each other into the space between the. two walls of the vault leaving a clear and entirely free opening into the vault. The doors are provided'with novel interconnections by means of which movement of one door will automatically impart movement to the other door whereby it is necessaryjto manually open only rone door.
A more complete understanding of my 1nvention will be had from the following description taken in connection with the drawi vzi0 ings in which:

In the illustrated embodiment of Vmy invention I have shown a double walled vault which in eiiect is one walled vault within another, the door and door operating mecha- `nism being secured to and supported from the inner vault.V It will be manifestesl the description proceeds that the door operating mechanism may be applied to other vaults.
The inner lvault orsate chamber is constructed of aesingle sheet of metal 1 preferably sheet steel or some othersuitable material yand curved into a partial cylinder, the
vertical terminating ends of which are spaced to provide an entry or opening into the vault. For appearance or additional strength the chamber may be lined with a single sheet of metal 2 such as bronze the ends of the two sheets 1 and 2 being finished and bound together by channel shaped strips 3. The upper edgeof sheet 1 is secured to an angle ring t to which is attached a top plate 6. The lower edge of sheet 1 is secured to a. similar angle ring 7 to which is attached a bottom plate `8. A vault chamber is thus provided and enclosed by a cylindrical wall 1 top plate 6 and bottom plate 8.
The top plate 6 and the bottom plate 8 carry spacers 9 which support the outer shell or casing. For this purpose an upper ring' 11 and a lower ring 12 are secured to the spacers by screws orthe like. An angular rim 13 is securedto the upper ring 11 and a similar angular rim 14 is secured to the lower ring 12. The outer shell 16, trimming members 1'? and base 18 are all secured either directly orrindirectly to rim 14;. The outer shell 16 is provided with an opening in alignment Awith the opening through the inner shell to Vpermit vaccess into the vault chamber." The space beneath the door opening and between plate 8 andthe base 18 is closed by an arcuate front plate 19.
The upper end of the outer shell is closed by a dome-lilre structure 2O and suitable trimming members 21 and 22 all carried by the angular'rim 13. p
In order to close the door opening` or entry through the two shells7 I provide a pair of' arm 28 Vand aflower arm 32`similar to arm 29.
The inner ends of upper door arms 28 and 31 are provided with circular bearing receiving bosses and are pivoted upon a common bearing post 33 carried by and projecting upwardly from top plate 6. Suitable bearings 34 are interposed around and between the arms. Lower arms 29 and 32 are similarly pivoted to a common post 36 rigidlysecured to bottom plate 8, suitable bearings 37 being applied between the post and the arms.
. i The carrier plates are provided with main portionswhich extend above'and below the end plates of the inner vault chamber and join the upper and lower arms and forward portions to' which the doors are attached, the forward portions are cut away and stop Aat substantially the level of the upper and `lower plates.y This construction permits of a'psubstantially flush connection between the lower plate 8 and the arcuate front plate 19. In orderto provide a flush or closed entrance into the vault a at plate 38 is secured to the curved front plate '19 in a horizontal position to extendacross the opening into the vault and completely close the space between plate 19 and the front edgeof the lower end plate 8. This construction will permit the door plates and the doors to be rigidlyjcarried by the two arms the latter Abeing connected by the plates and yet the door may extend in front of the entry and close the entry into ythe vault chamber without the necessity of having an opening through whichthe lower ends of the doors may slide.
In order that the two doors will open simultaneously and automatically, that is, in order that movement of one door will impart move-l ment to both doors, the upper arms 28 and 31 are provided with two laterallyprojecting lugs 39 and 41 respectively at a point intermediate their terminating ends to which one end of links 42 and 43 are pivoted. The other ends of links 42 and 43 are connected together by a pivot pin 44 at a point behind the door arm pivot post 33. Pivot pin 44 carries -a roller 46 which tracks between a pair of angle guide rails 47 and 48 secured to end plate6. The movement of pin `44 is accordingly restricted to a radial movement toward and from pin 33- The outer ends of rails 47 and 48 are bent inwardly to engage a stop rblock 49 vwhich will limit the outer movement of roller 46.
It follows from the above that if either door 23 or 24 and its corresponding arm 28 or 31 in a counterclockwise direction through a pull on link 43. The reverse movements will be lapparent from ythe lforegoing description as -it willbe apparent that either door may be Ymanually operated resulting in the automatic simultaneous movement of the other door. rFrom the above description it can be seen rthat there has been provided a substantially 'burglar proof vault comprising an inner vault chamber within an outer chamber having a pair of doors which are readily and easily operable, it being necessary only` to operate one door.

I claim:
1. In combination a-'pair of vertical doors having horizontal supporting arms extending radially therefrom and pivoted at their inner ends about a common `fixed vertical pivot whereby said doors will swing bodily toward and fromk each other in an arcuate path and connections between said doors for causing automatic simultaneous operation of said doors, said connections comprising a pair of links pivotally connected together at one end, means for guiding said connected ends for movement in a direction laterally of the door pivot, one of said links. being pivoted to each of said arms at a point between the door carried thereby and said door pivot.
