a The object of the present invention is to provide a book with an object of this character mounted on one page of the book and provide means attached to the other page of the book whereby the object maybe caused. to be unfolded anderected when" the book is opened and a further ohject is toprovidea book of this character having two of such objects disposed on opposite pages of the book and so connected to each other that when the book is closed, both of said objects will fold up or collapse and when the book is opened, both of said objects will unfold and be erected.

My invention is illustrated in the panying drawings, wherein igure 1 is a perspective view of accoma book unfolded or opened with a foldable object mounted on one leaf of the book and so connected to the. opposite leaf as to erect and unfold when the book is opened;

Referring to Figures 1 and 2, 10 desigand 12, the book being diagrammatically shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3. Disposed on one of these pages or leaves is an object designated generally 13 shown inthe drawings as having the form of ahouse. This object a as illustrated in Figure 2 is formed with the two walls 14 and 15 and with the roof 16 which is foldable along the line 17. The end walls of the house are foldable inward along the line 18, as shown in Figure 1. In Figure 3, I have illustrated diagrammatically a book 10 having the leaves 11 and 12 as before described'but having two collapsible or foldable figures mounted thereon designatedrespectively 13a and 136. These figures 13a and 13b in the drawings have the shape of houses or cottages and have the same general construction as the structure shown at13 in Figure 1. Each of these figures 13 and 13 has its outermost wall 15 attached to the page ofth'e book by the flange 19, the opposite wall 14 being detached; The opposed wallsld of these figures are connected by means of the band. or strip 20 is sufficiently stiff so that as the leaves of the book are folded towardeach other, the objects will fold up as previously described and will eventually be turned over fiat upon the pages of the book and as the leaves of the book are opened out, the'pull on the flanges 19 will pull the objects from a collapsed to an open position and will also pull them to an erect position.

It will be seen that the objects attached to the pages of the book as heretofore de* scribed may be of such character as to serve as illustrations of the text of the book or I'Hriononn BROWN, or VICTORIA, ENGLAND, ASSIGNOE 'ro STEPHEN LOUIS G IRAUD, on

same function as r sition by the closing of the book.

While I have heretofore referred to my invention as being primarily intended for childrens books, it obviously may be equally well used as means for advertising or for educational purposes.

I claim- 1. An article of the character described including two hinge'dly connected leaves, a

foldable object hingedlyconnected to one leaf midway of its width and adapted to fold flat-thereagainst when the leaves are closed against each other, and a member connected at one extremity to the oppositeleaf outward of the fold between the leaves and extending across said fold and at its other extremity connected tothe foldable object whereby when the leaves are opened into approximately the same plane, the object will be drawn to an erect position perpendicular to the plane of the opened leaves.

An article of the character described, including two foldably connected leaves, an object hingedly attached at its base to one leaf midway between the outer edge of said leaf-andthe fold between the leaves whereby said object may fold over fiat upon said leaf when the leaves are closed against each other, and a connecting member operatively' connected to the opposite leaf between theouter margin of the same and the fold between the leaves and extending across the fold between the leaves and at its other end being 0011- eluding two foldably connected leaves, two foldable objects disposed one on each leaf, each object having parallel walls, one wall being hingedly attached at the side adjacent the outermost edge of the corresponding leaf, the oppositeedge ofthe object being free from attachment to the leaf, and 'aconnecting member engaged with the adjacent unattached walls of the objects and extending across the fold between theleaves whereby when the leaves are opened to approximately the same plane, both objects will be unfolded and drawn to an erect position perpendicular to the plane of the leaves.

5. An article of the character described, having-two foldablyconnected leaves, objects hi-ngedly attached to the surfaces of the leaves whereby the objects may be folded overuponthe leaves, each object toward the outer'end of the leaf in a direction at-right angles to the fold between the leaves and a connecting member attached at its opposite ends to said objects extending across the fold between the leaves whereby when the leaves are opened, to approximately the same plane, the objects will be drawn to an erect position perpendicular to the plane of the leaves.

An article of the character described, including two hingedly connected leaves and a foldable object having opposed sidewalls, foldable end members flexiblyconnected to the side walls,' said side walls extending parallel to the fold between the elevations and the outermost side wall being hingedly connected to the leaf, the opposite side wall being free from'attachment to the leaf, and a connecting member attached to the last named sidewall and extending across the fold between theleavesand attached to the opposite leaf whereby when the leaves are open to approximately the same plane, the object will be unfolded and drawn to an erect position perpendicular tothe plane of the open leaves.
