Application filed August 29, 1925. Serial No. 53,286.
This invention relates to improvements in decorative lamps, and has for an object to provide a lamp in which the light is controlled and the beams restricted to pass throu h a novel diffusing medium.
A urther object is to provide a lamp of this character in which the diffusing me-.
dium may be utilized to produce various and novel decorative effects as will be more fully explained hereafter.
A further object is to construct such a lamp that the parts may be easily accessible, and the diffusing medium may be conveniently and readily changed from one ar- 1 rangement to another.
A further object is to construct a lamp in which the diffusing medium may be fully protected from injury and at the same time lend itself to appropriate decoration suitable to the diffusing medium employed.
With these and other objects in view as may become apparent from the following disclosure, the invention consists in the novel combination of elements, construction and arrangement of parts opteration and specific features to be herelna er enlarged upon and recited in the subjoined claims, the invention being illustated in the accompanying drawings wherein:

Referring to the drawings a base A provided with felt or rubber ads 5 supports a body ortion B of suitab e decorative contour iaving an enlarged central cavity '6 and supporting a decorative casingG referably made in sections and hlnge at for opening to give access to the interior. An
appropriately decorated cap D rests on the decorative casing and serves to support a tubular standard 8 for a light cluster E which may or may not be used at the time the main illuminating device is in operation.
A lamp F mounted in the central cavity of the base projects through an o ening 9 in a frustro conical mirrored re ector 10 mounted to throw the beams from the light upwardly within the casing.
J A glass globe G of suitable cross section is mounted within the casing on felt or rubber pads 11 so that it is spaced from the base, and may be filled with water and serve as an be mounted on the tip of the lamp F so that the heat from the lamp revolving the vane the light will be shown of different color passing upward to the aquarium.
The base B may be suitably a ertured as at 12 for the accommodation 0 the light circuit wires 14 from which a lead 15 may carry the current upwardly within the-casing and through the standard 8 to the light cluster. A suitable switch 16 "may be supplied and may be conveniently mounted in the base, as shown.
7 As is obvious rays from the lamp will be directed upwardly so that the water in the globe will be lighted throughout illuminating objects, as fishes, swimmln in the water, and the light will be diffuse and send a glow through the decorated casing.
While a design of trees and shrubbery is conventionally shown as a filigree or cutout decoration for the casing, it will be a'ppreciated that any other suitable design may be used, the parts thereof serving to protect the glassglobe from casual injury.
While in the foregoing I have described specific embodiments, and have mentioned only certain possible modifications, it will be appreciated that in ractice I do not limit myself to such speci 0 details as herein set forth, but may resort to any practical nliodifications fallingwithin the scope of the 0 mm.
\Vhat I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A lamp comprising a base, a light within the base, a di thebase and comprising a container having a li uid filler, a reflector to direct ra s upwar ly from the light through the di usin medium, and a protective casing supporte on the baseto surround the diffusing medium and spaced therefrom, arts bein removed to leave decorative deslgns as a ade for the lamp, and a multi-colored shield revolvably mounted between the light and the diffusing medium.
