WIRE ARTICLE.
Application fled August a, 1991. Serial 1%. 210,787.
A further object isin the provision of an.
article of theclass described which is of pleasing appearance, can be cheaply constructed and is useful for innumerable purposes.
These several objects, together with others, which will become apparent as the description progresses, are attained b the novel construction, combination an arrangement of elements, hereinafter described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a component portion of this disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a wire article made in accordance with this invention, as shown in an extending portion.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the same,
Figure 3 is a fragmentary enlarged view showlng the manner in which the top portion of the device is constructed.
Figures 4, 5, 6 and 7 are enlarged fragmentar views illustrating a few portions into which the elements forming the wire basket may be shaped.
In the drawing, the numeral 10 generally designates a roll of scallops, each of which includes a plurality of concentric wires having hooks 11 at their upper ends, engageable with a circular bent wire 12, from which extend upwardly,'a plurality of single semi-elliptical wires 13.
Enga eable with the wires 13 through their wire links 14 are similar semi-elliptical wires 15 having their open ends hooked to engage larger but similar over-la ping wires 16, the
upper open ends of whic are looped to enthan the wire 12.
Fastened to the wire 17- are a plurality oftripally formed semi-circular wires18 comprising the upper row or layer.
The entire evice is constructed of thin, flexible wire and, as can he obviously seen, folded or bent into any number of ordinary and ornamental shapes. d
When extended as shown in Figure 1, the
row of wires 16 may be receptive of any desired commodity, such as fruit, large nuts, or
other edibles.
From the foregoing, it will be further noted that when the device is completely collapsed, it will present a very thin article, takmg very little space for storing purposes.
While the foregoing is descriptive of the preferred embodiment of my invention, similar forms may be constructed without the exercise of invention or conflictin spirit ofthe claims hereto appen ed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire :to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A wire article comprising a plurality of scallops, each scallo including a plurality of concentric loops of ifi'erent radii, bands connecting the endsof said loops, said loops extending outwardly to serve as an ports, a
gage a band. wire 17 similar to but larger with the v plural series of loops engaging said and and connected to a second hand, and a final series of scallops, each scallop including a plurality of concentric loops of different radii extending outwardly from the last named band to constitute a unitary article. i
2. In a wire article,.a plurality of scallops,
each scallop comprising a plurali of concentric wire loops of difierent radii, a wire band engaged at the ends of said s, and a super-structure of connected wi OQPS em gaged with said band. y
In witness whereof ,I have sig nature.
