Description
W. P. HALL.
IRO NING-TABLE. No 170,848. Patented Dec. 7,1875.
WITNEEEEE: I INVESZ'EJR.
ATTORNEY.
N.PETRS, PHOTO-LITHOGRAFHER WASHINGTON n C I I J UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM P. HALL, OF GEEEIWILLE, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT IN IRONING-TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 170,848, dated December 7, 1875; application filed October 22, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM P. HALL, of Green ville, county of Montcalm and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Tables, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of an ironing- Figure 1 is a perspectiveview of my ironingtable. Fig. 2 is a section through the fastening device for the legs.
A represents an ironing-board of any snitable form and size. On the under side of this board, near the larger end, is fastened a cleat or cross-bar, B, to the 'ends of which are pivoted the legs 0 G. Thtfie legs are connected by one or more rounds, and when folded close to the board extend nearly the entire length thereof. At a suitable distance, on the inner sides of the legs 0 O, are pivoted shorter legs D D, which are also, near their ends, connected by rounds. On the under side of the board A, a suitable distance from the smaller end, is
secured a bar, E,having a series of notches or hooks, a. a, and on said bar is pivoted a crossbar or button, G, as shown. The round b, that connects the upper ends of the legs D D, is to be placed in either one of the notches or hooks a, and fastened by turning the button G longitudinally with the bar E. By this means the board may be placed at any height desired, and ironing may be done on the'small end without tipping the board over, as the legs 0 G extend sufliciently farto support the same. 11; can also be lowered to be used as a sewing-table, if desired.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An ironing-table, A, provided with folding legs 0 D and rack E, said rack 'secnring one leg of the table when in use by-mcans of a button, Gr, clamping one round of the leg in the teeth of the rack, and releasing said round therefrom when it is desired to fold up the legs of the table, all as specified, for the purpose set forth. 1
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention 1 hereunto afiix my signature this 11th day of October, 1875.
WILLIAM- P. HA LL. Witnesses:
ALBERT L. CAREY, CHARLES KABMEEN.
