This invention relates to harrows, or what mig-ht be called a pulverizer.

This bar 5 supports the lever device (i hereinafter specifically described.
The front disc carrying shaft 7 is mounted in sectional journal boxes 8 carried by the pivotally mounted spring bracket arms 9. Each bracket arm 9 is provided with an outer folded end 10 through which bolt 11 extends; bolt 11 is placed in one oi" several horizontal apertures 12, for adjustably supporting the bracket arms upon the side of the front aux iliary frame 2. Each bracket arm is twisted at 13 to produce a horizontal outer end, to which a sectional :box 8 is fastened. The folded outer end 10 is suiiiciently large to allow a play at 14, so that the bracket arms can he pivoted through the medium of lever device (i, for placing the discs 15 close to or further away from the ground, as desired, these discs being suitably mounted upon shaft.
Shaft 7 is provided with a spline 16 (Fig. 3) engaged by hub 17 of arm 18; arm 1S is held in a fixed position, against longitudinal movement on shaft 7 by set-screw 19. The lever device 6 comprises a straight body 2() provided with an integral right angularly extending foot 2l to which the outer end of armA 18 is pivotally connected at 22. At 23, thebody 2O of the lever device is pivotally mounted on the primary connecting' bar 5. A ratchet plate `24 is fastened to the bar 5 and is engaged by the ratchet device 25 carlever device. This arm 26 extends at right angles to body 20, so that a greater leverage can be exerted thereon by the operator for swinging arm 18 and thus raising or lower ing disc 15 a `greater distance for eflicient operation.
In Figure lathe embodiment is similar to that shown in Figure with the exceptionthat each of the front bracket arms 9 has on its outer end an upwardly extending portion 27 terminating in an inwardly eX- tending, integral bearing portion 28 on which shaft 7 rests. The upper section 29 covers'lthe shaft and is suitably fastened to 'the bearing portion 2S, making a very effi? cient structnrebecanse the portion 28 can not-be lost from theY bracket arm; it is easily formed, and gives a springy action for overcoming, to a great extent, shocks on the discs 15, such as striking against roots and rocks in the field. In other words, I have provided a springy bracket arm structure, supporting a disc carrying shaft 7.
The rear disc carrying shaft 30 is mounted on sectional bearing or journal boxes 8 supported and fastened to spring bracket arms 31. These arms 31 are similarly constructed to the front bracket arms 9, but their' U-shape or overlapped inner ends are brought close to the inverted frame 3,` as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, eliminating any play, thereby holding shaft 30 from any vertical movement; the operator, however, can adjust the height of shaft 30 with its disc 15, byv placing the fastening bolts 32 in any of the apertures on frame 3 (Fig. 1).
Brackets 34 are fastened upon frame 1 and in the. upper ends of these brackets are journailed shafts 35. Shafts 35 have spring teeth 36 fastened thereto. The teeth on the shaft nearest to discs 15 on shaft 7 are arranged in lternating positions; in other words, there is only one spring tooth for every other disc on shaft 7 but the spring teeth 36 on the rear shaft on brackets 34.y fill in the space between the teeth on the front shaft 35, so thaty the two shafts 35 have spring teeth equal in number to the discs 15 on shaft 7. Y Extending from shafts 35 are adjustable arms 37 these arms areheld in a fixed position on shafts 35 by set-screws 38. The upper ends of the arms ire pivotally connected by auxiliary connecting bar 39. The front end of bar 39 is adjustably connected toy the body 2O of the lever device, whereby when the lever device is swung upon its pivot 23, the spring teeth 35 will be adjusted the same as the teeth 15 carried by shaft 7, for placing them closer to or further away from the ground.

I provide, at the front end of frame 1, a
suitable hitch 40, whereby draft animals or a tractor may be attached to my apparatus, for conveying the same over the ground.
While I have described the' preferred em-4 bodiment of my invention and illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings, certain minor changes or alterations may occur' to one skilled in the art to which this invenion relates, during the extensive manufacture of the same, and I, therefore, reserve the right to make such alterations or changes as shall fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. In an apparatus of the class described, the combination with a frame, of auxiliary frames on'said first mentioned frame, 'a connecting bar on said auxiliary frames, bracket armsV pivotally mounted on one of said against portions yof said auxiliary frames, a disc carrying shaft supported upon said brackets, and lever Vmeans for raising and lowering said brackets and disc carrying shaft.
3. In an apparatus of the class described, the combination with a horizontal primary frame, of inverted U-shape frames on said primary frame, a longitudinally extending connecting bar fastened to said U-shape frames, said U-shape frames provided with a plurality of apertures intheir sides, bracket arms engaging said U-shape frame, means extending through some of said apertures and said bracket armsV for adjustably mounting the same upon saidframes, a disc carry-A ing shaft supported upon said bracket arms, and lever means carriedv by said primary frame and connected to said disc carrying I shaft for raising and lowering the same. j
4. In an apparatusof the class described, the combination with a main frame, of auxilf. iaryl frames on said main frame,pivotally mounted bracket arms on one of said auxiliary frames and fixedly secured bracket arms upon the other auxiliary frame, rotatable soil or ground engaging elements on said bracket arms, and means carried by the main frame vandv connected to said pivotally mounted bracket arms forpivoting the same upon their fr-ame for adjusting said rotatable soil engaging element Y of the pivotally mounted bracket arms. Y
5. Inan apparatus of the class described,
the combination with a mainframe, of'an j` inverted U-shape frame fastened to said-main frame, a pair of bracket arms againstvsaid U-'shape frame, each bracket'arm provided. with a U-sha`pe or overlapping -inner end against said U-shape frame with sufficient playto allow the bracket arm to pivot upon the U-shape frame, said bracket arm being twisted intermediate its length providing an outer horizontal portion, a disc carrying shaft supported upon .the outer horizontal portions ,of said bracket arms, and leve'r meansv carriedb'y said main frame and connected to said disc carrying-shaft for swinging said bracket arms upon the U-shape frame and thereby raising and lowering the discs of'said shaft.
A6. In anl apparatus of the class described,
the combination with a main frame, of an auxiliary frame on said main frame, a plurality of bracket arms pivotally mountedon said auxiliary frame, each bracket arm pro- I vided at its outer end with an upwardly extending portion, said upwardly extending portion provided with an integral, inwardly extending, horizontal bearing portion, a dise carrying shaft resting on said horizontal bearing portion, an upper section over said shaft and fastened to said horizontal bearing portion, and a lever device supported upon said main frame and operably connected to said disc carrying shaft.
7. In an apparatus of the class described, the combination with a. main frame, of an auxiliary frame on said main frame, adjustable spring bracket arms pivotally mounted on said auxiliary frame, journal boxes fastened to the outer ends of said arms, a disc carrying shaft in said boxes, an arm splined upon said shaft, and lever means connected to said last-mentioned arm for raising and lowering said spring arms and said shaft.
8. In an apparatus of the class described,
the combination with a main frame, of upstanding frames on said main frame, rearwardly Aextending bracket arms on said upstanding frames, disc or rotatable element carrying shafts on the outer ends of said bracket arms, and means for vertically adjusting one of said shafts.
9. In an apparatus of the class described, the combination with a main frame, of an auxiliary frame on said main frame, pivotally mounted brackets on said auxiliary frame, a supportingr bar on said auxiliary frame, a disc carrying shaft on said pivotally mounted brackets, an arm extending from said disc carryin0r shaft, a lever supported upon said supporting bar and comprising a straight body with a right angled foot, said foot pivotally connected to said arm, said lever provided With a right angled I5 `ipper portion parallel with said foot, and
means for holding said lever in an adjusted position upon said supporting bar.
