My invention relates to molds or forms for use in constructing rooms of a building or other rectangular compartment.
An object of the invention is to provide a mold which may be conveniently set up for use and will effectively support sheet insulating material in position to permit the application of concrete or other plastic material thereto. A further object of the invention is to pro vide a mold or form of this character wherein the walls of the mold do not contact with the plastic material and are thus always retained in a clean condition.
The invention further provides a mold embodying a plurality of sections which are adjustable to permit rooms or compartments of various sizes to be formed. It is also an object of the invention to provide a mold embodying a plurality of adjustable walls having means for detachably connecting the ends thereof so that the mold structure may be readily knocked down or set up for use.
With the preceding and other objects and advantages in mind the invention consists in the novel combination of elements, constructions and arrangements of parts and operations to be hereinafter specifically referred to, claimed and illustrated in the accompany ing drawings, wherein:

Fig. 7 is a transverse section taken on line 77 of Fig. 6; and Fig. 8 is a detail top plan view showing a different arrangement of the mold members.
Referring to the invention in detail and particularly to the construction disclosed in Figs. 1 to 5 inclusive a rectangular form is '50 provided consisting of parallel side walls 5 and end walls 6. The walls 5 and 6 are made up of slidably connectedsections of identical construction, each consisting of a plurality of spaced horizontally arranged bars 7 connected at their ends by-vertical cleats 8. As particularly illustrated in Fig. 2 the parallel bars of one section are slidably received between the bars of an adjacent section. Tlie cleats 8 are located upon the inner faces of the bars 7 I and limit the longitudinal adjustment of the sections. In other words the cleats 8 of two adjacent sections will abut when the walls are adjusted their full length. For the purpose of maintaining the sections in the desired adjustment so that a form of predetermined size may be had adjustable fastenings 9 are carried by the cleats 8 and are adapted to bind against the bars 7. One end of the side walls 5 and one end of the end walls 6 are connected together by hinges 9 mounted upon the inner faces of the cleats 8 carried by the adjacent ends of these walls. In order to detachably connect the free ends of the hingedly connected walls with the remaining side and end walls, registering eyes 10 are carried by the adjacent ends of the walls which receive removable pins 11, the latter consistin of lengths of rods each formed with anger engaging loop 12 at its upper end. Thus it will be seen that the structure may be readily set up or collapsed and folded into a comparatively small space when desired.
For the purpose of lending rigidity to the form when set up an adjustable brace is provided consisting of a pair of longitudinally aligned overlapping beams 13 one of which carries a "pair of substantially rectangular sleeves 14 through which the other beam slidably passes. A set screw 15 is associated with one of these sleeves for binding engagement with one of the beams 13 to hold them in longitudinally adjusted position. In practice the brace extends horizontally from one end wall to the other with theends of the beams resting on the upper edges of the end walls;
The extremities of the beams are provided with vertically extending openings 16 which receive upstanding'retaining pins 17 carried by the upper edges of the end walls. In actual practice the form is set up as illustrated in Fig. 1 with the walls braced at their lower edges by templets 18 temporarily secured to the floor by nails or other suitable tastenings 19. The templets are formed with bevelled ends 20 so that they may fit within the confines of the form and contact with the cleats 8 at the corners of the structure.
Sheets 20a of wall insulating material are set against the outer faces of the walls to which coatings of plastic material 21 are applied in any well known manner. If desired the plastic coating 21 may have a suitable reinforcing sheet 22 incorporated therein. For this purpose wires or other suitable fastening elements 23 will be driven through the insulating sheet 20a to engage the reinforcing sheet and temporarily secure the same until the plastic coating has been applied. After the plastic coating has set the form will be knocked down and removed. Also the insulating sheet 20a may be left in place or removed as desired.
In addition to the form being adapted to the construction of rectangular structures it is also capable for use in forming L-corners. In this connection it is pointed out that slidable sections of any one of the side or end walls may be swung to the right angular position disclosed in Fig. 8. Also one of the sections of one of the side walls may be provided with a door or window frame 7a so that a doorway or window opening will be left in one of the walls of the room.
In Figs. 6 and 7 I have disclosed a modified embodiment of the invention. This construction embraces a double walled mold into which the plastic material is poured or sprayed rather than being spread as in the construction above defined. In this instance the form disclosed in. Fig. 1 is employed, consisting of the adjustable side walls 5 and end walls 6. A second form is provided consisting of adjustable side walls 22% arranged in spaced parallel relation to the side walls 5 and adjustable end walls 28a arranged in spaced parallel relation to the end wall 6. The walls 22a and 2350 are arranged with their ends in abutting relation and the end cleats 8 are secured to vertical uprights arranged at the corners of the structure by nails or other temporary fastening devices 25. Panels of insulating material 26 are arranged against the opposed faces of both forms and the concrete poured or otherwise placed between the insulating sheet 26 from the top of the mold. In order to incorporate a reinforcing sheet 27 in the plastic structure lieing molded retaining wires 28 are extended from the opposed sheet of insulating material at spaced intervals and support the reinforcing sheet in place.
I claim:
1. In an adjustable form a plurality of walls adapted to be set up in rectangular formation, each wall consisting of a plurality of identical sections, each section comprising a plurality of spaced bars connected together and slidably received between the bars of an adjacent section.
2. In an adjustable form a plurality of walls adapted to be set up in rectangular formation, each wall consisting of a plurality of identical sections, each section comprising a plurality of spaced bars connected together and slidably received between the bars of an adjacent section, and means carried by each of the sections and engageable with the bars whereby to hold the sections in longitudinally adjusted position.
3. In an adjustable form a plurality of walls adapted to be set up in rectangular formation, each wall consisting of a plurality of identical sections, each section comprising a plurality of spaced bars connected together and slidably received between the bars of an adjacent section, and means carried by each of the sections and engageable with the bars whereby to hold the sections in longitudinal adjusted position, and detachable fasteniugs connected the ends of the wall.
4-. In a knock down form a plurality of walls adapted to be set up in rectangular formation, each wall including a plurality of sections comprising spaced parallel bars havintcrfitting slidable engagement, the end sections or" each wall being capable of being swung to a right angular position with respect to such walls and means for detachably connecting the ends of the walls.
5. A temporary support for plastic walls comprising a plurality of identical sections, each including a plurality of horizontally arranged spaced parallel bars and vertical cleats attached thereto, the bars of one section being slidably and pivotally received between the bars of an adjacent section.
6. A temporary support for plastic walls comprising a plurality of identical sections, each including a plurality of horizontally arranged spaced parallel bars and vertical cleats attached thereto, the bars of one section being slidably and pivotally received between the bars of an adjacent section, the adjacent cleats of adjacent sections constituting stops to limit the longitudinal adjustment of the sections with relation to each other.
