This invention relates in general to lockers and has more particular reference to multi-person lockers of sheet metal or the like in which the locker doors have their free or swinging edges adj acentfeach other and employa common member or upright for a door sto ) principal object of the invention is the provision of a multi-person locker of new and improved construction, wherein the doors may be locked or latched to a common member and this'without danger of being forced apart by unauthorized persons attempting to open either locker.

Another important object of the invention is the provision vof a' multi-person locker wherein the doors engage a common upright, which serves as a stop toreceive the impact of the doors and at the same time prevents the locks from being pried open.

Another important obj ect of the invention ,is theprovision of a multi-person locker of knew and improved construction whereby a closed locker door protects its own lock against tampering through an open door of they adjacent companion ylock.

` Numerous other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent as it is better undrestood from the following description, which, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, discloses a preferred embodiment thereof.

Referring to the drawings: Figure 1 is a front elevation of a multi-person locker embodying my present invention:

For the purpose of illustrating my invention, I have shown on the drawings a locker body having side walls 11, back wall 12, top and bottom walls 13 of any usual or preferred construction. These parts constitute what may be termed the outer shell or body. Hori- Y zontal partitions 14 are arranged at appropriate heights to form horizontal compartments 15, each provided with a door 15.

The space between the lower horizontal partition 14 and the bottom wall 13 is divided in half by a vertical front to back partition 16 providing two vertical compartments 17 and 18. Doors 19 and 21 are provided respectively for the vertical compartments 17 and 18. The doors 19 and 21 are hinged respectively to the side walls 11 of the outer shell, as shown at 21', and are arranged with their free or swinging edges in adjacent relationship. The vertical partition wall 16 is secured at its rear edge in any usual or preferred manner and is secured at its front edge to a tubular upright member 22. The tubular upright member 22 is made of a pair of companion flanged upright members 23, respectively provided with side walls 24 which extend parallel with a partition 16, and flanges 25 and 26. The flanges 26 are bent substantially perpendicularly at 27, to provide portions 28 which lie parallel to the partition 16 and extend rearwardly to engage the opposite surfaces of the front edgeof the partition and provide supports to which the front edge of said partition is secured either by spotwelding or in any desired manner.

The flanges 25 terminate short of each other, as at`29, to provide a slot or opening 31 into a chamber 32 formed by this upright construction. The free edges of doors 19 and 21 are provided with inturned flanges 33 adapted to project through the slot 31 a substantial distance into the chamber when the doors are in closed position, and are disposed substantially parallel with the side walls 24 of the upright member.

Secured in any suitable manner to the inner faces of the doors are locks 34 having bolts' orlatches 35 adapted to engage appropriate keeper slots 36 provided in the side walls 24 of the upright 22. The locks are located adjacent the side Walls 24 so as to form a space between said side walls and the front ends of thelocksand in such a position that when the bolts or latches 35 are in operative position the ends of said bolts will extend into the keeper chamber 32.
