This invention relates to an improved stop motion for drawing frames; and has for its object to provide in such a stop motion an electric circuit controlling liftbar extending longitudinally of one of the draft rolls and spaced therefrom, the bar being in an electric circuit whereby when the roving breaks and winds about the, draft roll it builds up beneath the bar and raises the same to so afiect'the electric circuit as to stop the operating mechanism of the drawing frame.
A further object'ofthe invention is to so arrange the mechanism that the raising of the lift bar makes a contact and completes the circuit to energize a motor and release a 1 shift lever to throw the belt from the tight to the loose pulley to stop the machine.
lVith these and other objects in View, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction as will be more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

It is found in practice in the operation of such, machines as worsted drawing machines and the like, of advantage to provide simple and effective means for stopping a machine,

thus calling the attention of the attendant to at once repair the broken roving and start the machine into operation again; and the following-is a detailed description' of the present embodiment of my invention and showing one means by which these advan tageous results may be accomplished.
With reference to the drawing, 10 designates one of-the lower draft rolls and 11 one of the upperdra'ft'rolls between which the roving 12 is led to the f1ie'13 to be twisted and wound upon the bobbin 142.
In order to provide a simple and effective.
stop-motion for arresting the action of the machine when this roving breaks and winds about the roll "11, I- have positioned a relatively small bar 15 of light-weightwith its opposite ends guided in the brackets 16 to slide vertically therein.
In these brackets l have mounted contact pins 17 which may be adjusted endwise and secured by a screw 18 in its post 19. To these posts 19 at either end of the bar I have connected the circuit wires 20 which posts are connected together by a cross wire 21 to lead through the wire 22 to the battery 23 or sourceof current.
This bar 15 is also connected by another circuit wire 24 to the belt shift lever 25 which also serves as a conductor in the circuit, and the tripper arm 26 also serving as coilspring 38 is arrangedto act upon this shift lever 86 so that when released'it will move the. belt from engagement with the tight pulley 30 over to the loose pulley 81 to sto 3 t ie machine.
11 order to release this belt shift lever. when the roving. breaksand winds about the draft roll 11, the lift bar 15 is so arranged. thatas this roving builds up about this rollit lifts either one end or the other: thereof into contact with thepin 17 and so completes the circuit through the mechanism t above described to energize the solenoid 29 .andto withdraw the tripper, from engagement 1 with the detent ar1n25 permitting the spring 38 to act on thislever to throw the detentarm around into the p osition illustrated by. the dotted line 40, in Figure 5 Which at once releases this lever to throw the belt onto the loose pulley, and the extending end l39- of this detenttariniis moved intothe position illus trated in Figure 6 so thatwhen this-lever: is again moved backinto operating-position it automatically swings the detent arm back into its operating p ositionrcansing ituto be engaged by the tripper lever 26 and the same is automatically set ready to repeat the op: eration Whenever the rovingds again woun-di about the roll to raise its bar and again com? plete the electric circuit.
