My invention relates to lacombined hair guard and template adapted for useinY cutting or shaving the hair persons neck. My

By usingmydevice .it is not necessaryV for'V a person to have either a single or yadouble mirror t0 aid him inf shaving the vback of the Vneck or trimming the hair in the back to the-proper line, as 'it is Qnlyanecessary to shave downwardly from the guard,' practically operating by feel and not necessarily Y' Y bysight. i1, i ,Y
My invention willbe more readily :under-- stoodV fromthe following description inA con? nection with-thefdrawingsin which*-` Figure lis a developedview; of my-hairf guarda-nd template when ilattened Figure lQis aback view showing the man:y ner of the'cordfitting on the :backfof a perfsOlLS heaelmc c j ;w '5.-.-.2 Figure 3 is a side* view showing `the position of the cord vin reference tothe ears.
Figure 1 is a face viewofa wearer of my guard showing the clip and cord to bel fastened over the forehead. Y The guard as a whole is indicated by they numeral 1 and the construction is illustrated in Figure 1. This guard consists of a piece` of celluloid or other suitable material hav-k ing a convex curve 2 on its top edge cut to a concave curve 3 on its lower edge and having slightly curved or straight side edges 11. The shape of the edge 3 may be altered, v
and in manufacturing the device I would vindicate lines such as 5 and 6- to guide a purchaser in trimming the lower edge to secure the desired shape of trimming his hair that he wishes. It will be manifest that by altering the shape of the lower edge 3, a

it VKwillbe placed over the head and secured as shown#l 'The neck andv lower end ofthe guard mayl thenbe lathered, and when the razor is drawn downwardly over the lower part of the template it cando no harm and will not cut until the razor engages the neck,

My device may alsokbe readily used by women in trimming their hair at the back of the neck, especially those having bobbed hair. My device is also useful for enabling childrens hair to be trimmed at home without taking them to the barber.
My invent-ion may be considerably modified -in detail to suit particular types of hair shaving or trimming'a-nd may be madel to fasten to the head Vin a variety of ways.
Forrinstance a guard .or template may be the back of a persons head with t-heslitsV made of suitable sheet material to trimapersons beard, mustache, or side whiskers.' This would have a cord or suitable fastening device so that the person could secure the guard or template in theV desired position and thereby trim the whiskers, mustache, etc., as above described. Y' n I desire that the claims, where not drawn specifically, to the single device as shown, cover other guards or templates which may be used for any of the above mentioned purposes.
Having described my invention what I claimis: I
