MANICURE REST.
Application filed April 19, 1926. Serial No. 102,940.
This invention relates to an improved manicure rest particularly adapted for use in connection with barber chairs, beauty parlor chairs, etc. It is very customary to day for one being barbered to also be manicured at the same time. The manicurist is usually provided with a small table which she moves to a position adjacent the barber chair. This table serves for a support for the manicuring instruments, the soaking basin, and as a work table for supporting the hand being manicured. Such an arrangement is very inconvenient and unsatisfactory. It is the primary object of our invention to provide an improved manicure rest which can be secured to the arm of the barber chair and which will most conveniently serve the purposes above mentioned and also serve as a support for the arms and hands while soaking the nails. In practice, both the right and left hand arms of the chair are provided with .a rest, whereby one hand can be going through the soaking treatment preparatory to the manicuring operation, while the other hand is being manicured.
In the accompanying drawing, we have illustrated one specific embodiment of our invention, but it will be understood that the invention can be otherwise embodied and that the drawing is not to be construed as defining or limiting the scope of the invention, the claims appended to this specificationbeing relied upon for that purpose.
Referring to the figures of the drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of our improved manicure rest, showing the same in use.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the rest.
Figure 3 is a cross sectional viewtaken on line TIL-III of Fig. 2.
in the drawing, 1 indicates a barber chair and 2 one arm thereof. The body portion 3 of our improved manicure rest comprises a relatively long flat top surface 4 adapted to receive and support an arm 5. We have illustrated a pair of clamps 6 each having a cooperating screw 7 for detachably securing the rest to the chair arm. A soaking basin 8 is provided at the forward end of the rest, this basin preferably being an independent member seated in a hole 9 in the rest and supported therein by a flange 10 around the top e lge of the basin. The body portion of the basin is thereby located beneath the top surface of the support which makes it very convenient for receiving the fingers as seen in Fig. 1 and eliminates any danger of overturning the basin. The top surface is also adapted to receive and support the manicuring instruments which are prevented from rolling therefrom by a head 10 around the rest.
It is believed that the use and practical value of our invention will be obvious. The rests are made for both the right and left hand arms of the chair, the rest illustrated being adapted to the right hand arm. rest being provided. on both chair arms, one hand can be soaking in one basin while the other hand is being manicured. The relatively long rest provides a convenient support for the arm, a convenient work support for the manicurist, a support for her instruments, and a support for a soaking basin in each rest so located as to be reached by the natural position of the hand and so mounted as to cause no inconvenience or liability of upsetting.
Having thus described our what we claim is:
1. A manicure rest comprising an oblong arm support, means carried thereby for clamping the same to the arm of a chair parallel therewith, and a basin detachably carried by the support at the outer end thereof, the body portion of the basin being located beneath the top surface of the sup port.
2. A manicure rest comprising a body member having a relatively long flat top surface, a pair of clamping members respectively adjacent the ends thereof for securing thesame to the arm of a chair, and a basin detachably carried by the support at one end thereof.
o. A manicure rest comprising a body invention,
member having a relatively long top surface support, and means for securing the same to the arm of a chair, one end of the support being provided with a hole therethrough for receiving a basin, and the top surface being adapted to support an arm with the fingers dipping into. the basin,
4. A manicure rest comprising a body member having a relatively long top surface support, a, bead extending around the edgeof the top surface, and means for securing the support to the arm of a chair, one end of the support being provided with 2i hole" therethrough for receiving a: basin,
emgree and the top surface being adapted to support an arm With the fingers dipping into the basin and. to, receive and support instrumentswhich are prevented from rolling therefrom by the said bead.
