EARL R. PERSON, OF LEOMINSTER, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR T0 DU FONT VISCOLOID COMPANY, INC., OF LEOMINSTER, MASSACHUSETTS, A CORPORATION OF NEW JERSEY.
DISPLAY CARD.
Application filed July 21, 1926 Serial No." 124,049.
This invention relates to a card for supporting and displaying small articles, such as hair wavers, barrettes and other similargoods.
It is the object of my invention to provide a display card which is of simple construction and which may be cheaply and easily manufactured and by which the articles on the card are firmly supported and are held from accidental displacement.
A further object is to provide a display card to which such articles may be readily attached and from which they may be as readily removed when desired.
My invention further relates to arrangements and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
A preferred form of the invention is shown in the drawings in which Fig. 1 is a front view of the portion of my improved display card;
Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view taken along the line 2-2 in Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is a front View showing a slight modification.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, my improved display card comprises a back or body member 10 formed of a reasonably stiff sheet material such as a thin but fairly firm cardboard.
Attaching members 11 are formed in oppositely disposed pairs in the back 10 preferably by passing the card through a press or other suitable machine and making a series of .cuts or slits therein. Each of the attaching members remains attached to the back 10 at one end portion, as indicated at 12, and each member comprises a laterally extending portion 13, an upwardly extending portion 1 1, a portion 15 extending laterally but in the reverse direction. from the portion 13, and a depending projection 16.
Preferably the attaching members are formed in pairs as indicated in Fig. 1, and preferably the two members forming each pair are reversely disposed, although this reversed arrangement is not always essential.
The inner member 17 formed in the slitting operation has no particular function useful for supporting small articles, such as the hair waver 7 shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Such an article commonly comprises front and rear frame portions 20 and 21 and a movable member 22 pivoted to the frame at 23. i
When such an article is to be placed on the card'the hair waver is pushed downward over a pair, of attaching members'll so that the upper portions of the attaching members will be passed upward between the rear frame member 21 and the pivoted member 22. The depending ends 16 of the attaching members are then drawn forward over'the frame member 21 and are snapped into place over said frame member, as indicated in Figs. 1 and 2.
An article thus positioned is very firmly retained from displacement, either upward. downward or forward, but may be very readily removed from the card by slipping the depending portions 16 upward off of the frame member 21.
While I have described the attachment of a hair waver to my display card, it will be understood that the card may be used for any article having a portion of suitable shape and construction so that it may be substantially encircled by the attaching members 11' in the manner above described.
Having thus described my invention and the advantages thereof, I do not wish to be limited to the details herein disclosed otherwise than as set forth in the appended claims, but what I claim is 1. A display card comprising a back. portion of sheet material having attaching members formed in cooperating pairs therein, the two members of each pair being widely spaced apart and each attaching member having a hook-shaped down-turned end por tion adapted to project over and partially encircle a portion of a supported article and to engage the front, back and upper and lower edges of said article and to thereby cause each member to separately cooperate with said article to prevent upward, downward or forward displacement of said article.
2. A display card comprising a back portion of sheet material having attaching members formed in cooperating pairs therein,
the two members of each pair being widely spaced apart and each attaching member having a laterally extending portion integral open at one point only, which point is closely adjacent the point of connection of said member to the back portion of the display (card, and each attaching member engaging the front, back and upper and lower edges of a supported article and thus preventing upward, downward or forward displacement thereof. 7
In testimony whereof I have hereunto afiixed my signature.
EARL R. PER-SON.
