My invention is an improvement in air guns or rifles of that particular class in which the pellet or projectile is moved into the barrel for firingv by meansof a lsliding bolt, and relates more especially to the provision of a magazine attachment to facilitate loading and iirin'g the gun Comprising a device cooperating with they magazine chamber for bringing the pellets or projectiles successively Vinto position tor the operation of the bolt preliminary to tiring.
The'primary object ot my invention is to provide a magazine attachment for a single shot gun or rifle that can be easily and conat small expense, will not increase the size' of the rile to lanyy material extent, may be quickly operated to transfer the pellets or projectiles one at a time from the magazineto proper position for the action of the sliding bolt, and in whichv the parts constituting the magazine vand pellet feeding` device or carrier will not trom the .neat and trim appearance of the gun or rifle.
These and other .objects and advantages ot my invention will be apparent.y from they following description ot the construction and operation ot the magazine attachment. and what 1 nparticularly claim as 4new anddesire to fully protect by Letters-Patent is particularly set Forth in the appended claims.

To hold the pellets in the magazine chainber so thaty they may be properly and regularly fed into the feeding device or shuttle l' provide a spring-actuator detent comprising a spring member 36 secured on the magazine chamber and having a pin 37 projecting through an. aperture therein to engagev the spool-shaped pellets successively as they gravitate to the inner end of the magazine chamber, that is to say this detent holds or engages the second pellet from the inner end of the magazine chamber with the lirst free to move into the recess in the plunger, and in order to release the engaged pellet automatically when the plunger is pushed in by the operator-s thumb to bring the pellet carried by said plunger in alinement with the gun-barrel the rear end of the spring member 36 is extended over the casing 25 so as to be engaged and lifted by a cam projection 38 on the outer end of the plunger; it'being understoodthat in thisoperation the muzzle of the gun is pointed upward so that the pellets will gravitate towards the shuttle, and that during the return movement of the plunger by the action of the spring 3l the pellet at the inner end of the magazine chamber will bear against the side of said reciprocating plunger to enter the recess 30 therein when the plunger returns to normal position to receive this pellet, the adjoining pellet being engaged by reason of the spring member 36 being released from the cam projection to thereby lhold the re- Lezasio maining pellets in the magazine chamber from crowding or otherwise interfering with the'operation of the shuttle.
The magazine chamber is provided at its outer end with a conventional arrangement Afor charging the same, in the form of a cap or casing, as shown in Fig. 2, to maintain the neat appearance of the rifle when it is loaded and ready to lire, aswell as when it is unloaded and not in actual use, in the latter instance it being necessary only to slide the bolt forward after pressing the plunger in so that it will engage the pellet receiving opening in the plunger and hold said plunger against the action of the spring.
rThe construction and operation ofthe magazine attachment for pneumatic :rifles will be readily understood from the forego-` ing description in connection with the accompanying drawings, and'it will be obvious that it provides for converting a Vsingle shot riiie into a magazine rifle and for quickly shifting the pellets 'from the magazine chamber to the barrel for firing, the operator being required to merely elevate the muzzle of the rilie andpusli the plunger in by his thumb to bring the pellets successively into position to be forced into the inner end of the barrel by the sliding bolt while the spring at the rear end of the shuttle casing returns the plunger to its normal position when the bolt is slidbaclr after liring, the spring member on the magazine chamber then operating automatically to engage one of the pellets for the loading' operation hereinbefore explained.
I claim:

A magazine attachment for pneumatic rines comprising a magazine chamber containing the pellets, a pellet'feeding device in the form of a shuttle receiving the pellets from the magazine Chamberland carrying them one at a time to alinement with the inner end of the barrel, and means for automatically engaging and releasing a pellet in the chamber on the reciprocation of the shuttle from one position to another.

A magazine attachment for pneumatic rifles comprising a magazine chamber containing the pellets, a casing attached to said magazine chamber to extend across the inner end of the barrel and having openings in alinement with the magazine chamber and barrel respectively and an opening to receive the bolt for Jforcing the pellet into the barrel, a reciprocating pellet carier or plunger spring actuated in `one direction and having a recess therethrough to receive a pellet from the magazine chamber and position it with respect to the barrel and bolt, and means responsive to the reciprocating movement of the pellet carrier 'for engaging and releasing a pellet in the magazine chamber. f
4. A magazine attachment Jfor pneumatic rifles comprising a magazine chamber containing the pellets, a casing attached to said magazine chamber to extend across the inner end of the barrel and having openings in alinement with the magazine chamber and barrel respectively and an opening to receive the bolt of the rifle for forcing the pellet into the barrel, a pellet carrier or plunger having a reciprocating movement in said casing and adapted to receive a pellet from the magazine chamber and position it with respect to the barrel and bolt on movement of said carrier from one position to another, and means for limiting the outward movement of the pellet carrier; together with means responsiveV to the reciprocating movement oi' the carrier to engage and release a pellet in the magazine chamber.
5. A magazine attachment for pneumatic rifles comprising a magazine chamber containing the pellets, a casing attached to said magazine chamber to extend across the Yin- Abarrel respectively and the feeding of ner end of the barrel and having openings in alinement with the magazine chamber and barrel respectively and an opening to receive the bolt ot the rifle for forcing the pellet into the barrel, a pellet carrier or plunger having a reciprocating movement in the casing and adapted to receive a pellet from the magazine chamber and position it with respect to the barrel and bolt, a spring interposed between said carrier and the casing for actuating the carrier `in one direction, and means 'for limiting the outward movement of the spring-actuated pellet carrier; together with means responsive to the reciprocating movement of the carrier to engage and release a pellet in the magazine chamber.

A magazine attachment for pneumatic rifles comprising a magazine chamber con taining the pellets, a casing attached to said magazine chamber to extend across the inner end ot the barrel and having openings in alinement with the magazine chamber and an opening to receive the bolt ot the rie for forcing the pellet into the barrel, a pellet carrier or plunger having a reciprocating movement in said cas ing and adapted to receive a pellet from the magazine chamber and position it with respect to the barrel and bolt on movement of said carrier from one position to the other, a spring interposed between the inner end ot the plunger and closed end of the casing for moving said plunger outward, a stopshoulder on the plunger, and a spring finger on the casing having a bent end engaging said stop-shoulder for limiting the outward movement of the plunger; together with a spring member on the magazine'chamber having a pin extending through said chamber to engage one ot the pellets to regulate the same to the pellet carrier or plunger, and a cam projection on the plunger engaging the spring member for releasing the pin from the pellets when said plunger is moved to one of its positions.
