In a yarn winding machine, the combination of a supporting frame, a winding spindle adapted to carry a yarn receiver, means to rotate the spindle, a devicefor supplying yarn, a tension device, means to guide yarn from the first named device tothe tension device, means to guide yarn from the tension device to a receiver carried by the spindle,`the last named means including a part against which the yarn bears during its travel, and means to move the yarn transversely of its line of travel relatively Y to said part.

In a yarn winding machine, the combination of a supporting frame, a `winding spindle adapted to carry a yarn receiver, means to rotate the spindle, a device for supplying yarn, a tension device, a. yarn rectiying device for receiving yarn from the .first named device and delivering the yarn tothe tension device and having a series of connected arms diverging outwardly in alternate succession on the respective sides of a yarn passage formed by and between them, and guiding means for receiving yarn from the tension device and delivering it to a receiver carried by the spindle.
