The object oi' the present invention is to provide a post anchor whereby posts andthe like, for example telephone, telegraph and power poles may be securely anchored to shall not require digging holes t'or the rec )tion ot any one of the anchor units, each ual' being; applied by driving' the sanie directly into the earth. A further object et the :invention is to so construct the primary units ot the anchor in such manner that although they are separately driven into the earth., the);Y becolne securely interloclied together in use7 and have no relative movement.

lt is not essential in practice that the blade a .d anchor head hc provided with surface interloelfingl ineens, but the provisionv of such means is desirable because it prevents relative movement between the two units and results in a more eiiicient anchoring` of the guy cable. i
ln the operation ot thev device the anchor head is first driven into the earth at an angle extending in the saine angular line in which it is desired to anchor the guy cable. yI have found it desirable to drive the head at a angle, or substantially in the angle illustrated in Figure l of the drawings.
After the head has been driven to the desii-cd depth, the anchor blade is driven into the ground in a line extending* transversely of the guy rod and preferably at substantially the saine angular degree. The blows of the driving inallet fall upon the t-op of tubular ineiuber ll and are thrown upon that portion of the blade surrounding its head 3*. The blade will be driven until its forks l* embrace the guy rod. Iii' the blade has been driven slightly out oit line so that the guy rod is not' directly opposite the slot `2. con` tinued downward movement of the blade will cause the inwardly inclined edges of the blade to so mutually adjustthe positions ofthe rod and blade that the rod Will Yfinally be caused to enterslot 2. In practice the blade is driven at such an angle as to initially embrace the guy rod at a point slight-ly above the head 6, and the subsequent` ten` sion of the guy cable l0 and strain upon the guy rod and head Will cause the latter to contict with the side Wall of the blade and cause the teeth to interlock.

The relative angles at which the rod and blade are driven to secure the bestefficiency may be deterniined in advance.
