HOSE SUPPORTER.

Beit known that I, LAURA M. SCHNEIDER, a citizen of the United States of America,

' and residing at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hose Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

My inventioii relates to hose supporters ,of the type set forth in my former applicae "eion filed July 15th, 1922, Serial No. 575,- 134.

' The main object is to provide a construction which may be readily applied, comfortably Worn and whih will hold the stocking securely. Another object is to provide a construction for securely supporting stockings from the hips rather than from the waist. My present invention seeks to afford security even when it has not been carefully. adjusted.

In carrying out my present invention I preferably make the main band of a single piece of elastic webbing, the ends of which maybe crossed in front and provided with means for ai'slidin connection. The side fasteners aresuspenfied from the main band near the hips so as to distribute the strain and hold up the stockings without dragging down the band or applying local pressure to the abdomen. The opposite sides of the band may be connected by an elastic tie in such a position as to reinforce the main band at points where side supporters are connected although in such a position as to apply substantially no pressure to the abdomen when the wearer is standing or sitting.

Fig. 1 is a. perspective view of a hose supporter embodying the improvements of my invention, the cross tie being shown separate.

Fig. 2 is an outline view showing the supporter on the wearer in a standing position.

Fig. 3 is a detail view showingthe preferred form of connection between the side supporter and the main band.

The main band 5 is preferably of elastic webbing. One end of it is preferably provided with a loo) portion 6 and an adjust ing buckle 7. The other end terminates in a loop portion 8 having adjusting buckle 9. These two ends are provided with suitable stocking supporter fasteners such as 10 and 11. One end of the main band is preferably provided with an elastic piece 12 which forms, in conjunction. with the main band, a. loop for the passage of the other end of the band so as to hold the parts in position at this point and yet 'permitrelative freedom of movement of the opposite ends.

The side supporters 13 and 14 are secured to the main band preferably by a sort of butt joint seam as shown in Fig. 3 so as to provide a smooth bearing surface. These side supporters are also preferably provided with terminal loops and adjusting buckles such as 15, 16 and 17. 18 and stocking fasteners such as 19 and 20.

I find that the construction thus far described will remain securely in position when properly adjusted. The elastic webbing clings around the hips and around the back and shows no tendency to displace ment when in use. In case the supporter is not properly adjusted or fitted to the wearer there is sometimes a tendency for it to slip. i his may, however, be readily avoided by the use of a cross tie piece 21 preferably of stood, however, that this cross. tie may 'be made of adjustable length. In case a. wider range of adjustment is desired additional fasteners such as 24 and 25 or 26 and 27 may be provided so as to give a wider range of adjustment to accommodate different sizes.

I claim: I i

1. A hose supporter comprising an elastic hip band having stocking fasteners on opposite ends, a sliding connection between said ends, side supporters secured to said band and a cross tie piece connecting opposite portions of said band adjacent the pointsof connection of said side supporters.

A. hose supporter comprising a one .iece elastic hip band terminating in adjustable loops at its opposite ends, stocking fasteners secured to said loops and adapted to be secured to the upper inside edges of stockings, adjustable elastic side supporting strips secured to said elastic hip band at points which are located on opposite sides of the abdomen immediately in front of the hips when the band is worn; stocking fasteners secured to said strips and adapted to besecured to the upper outer edges of stockings, and an elastic cross tie connecting opposite portions of said elastic hip band adjacent the points of connection of said side supporting strips, said band strips and tie being constructed and arranged to support stockings Without applying any substantial local pressure to the abdomen, the rear of said hip band being adapted to cling to the hips by virtue of its elastic characteristics.

A hose supporter comprising a one piece elastic band terminating in loops at its opposite ends, stocking fasteners secured to said loops, an elastic strip connected to one end of said band above its loop and providing a sliding: engagement for the. other end of said band and adjustable side supporting strips secured to said band adjacent the hip portions thereof.

A hose supporter comprising an elastic hip band having its opposite ends crossed and provided with sliding means of connection, adjustable elastic side supporters connected to the hip portions of said band and an elastic-cross as secured to said hand adjacent the upper ends of said side supporters. 1

5 A hose supporter comprising an elastic hip hand, stocking fasteners secured to the opposite ends thereof, elastic side supporters connected ttrthe hip portions of said band,

stocking fasteners secured to'the lower ends thereof, a series of fastening-devices connected to said band adj acent the upper ends of the side supporters and a cross lie adapted to be secured to any two of the oppositel disposed fastening devices.

6. A hose supporter comprising an elastic hip band terminating: in adjustable portions at its opposite ends, stocking fasteners secured to the lower ends of said adjustable portions and adapted to be vsecured to the upper inside edges of stockings. adjustable elastic side supporting strips secured to said elastic hip band at points which are located on opposite sides of the abdomen innne'diateiv in front of the hips when the band is WOIIL stocking fasteners secured to the lower ends of said strips and adapted to be secured to the ripper outer edges of stool:- ings. and a yielding tie connecting opposite portions of said elastic hip band adjacent the points of connection of said side supporting strips, said band, strips and tiebcing constructcd and arranged to support stockings :mthout applying any substantial local pressure to the abdomen, the rear of said hip band being adapted to cling to the hips by virtue of its elastic characteristics.
