To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE MEYERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoe Oorsets, of which the following is a specilication.

My invention relates to a new and improved shoe corset.

One of the objects of my invention is to provide a new and improved shoe corset of the type which is used for supporting the rear or heel portion of a shoe.

Another object of my invention is to provide a shoe corset which will be simple and cheap to manufacture and which will be resilient, durable and eiicient in actual use.

Other objects of my invention will be set forth in the following description and drawings which illustrate a preferred em! bodiment thereof.

The shoe S may be of any suitable type and requires no further description as in itself it forms no part of my invention. The rear part of the shoe is provided with a lining member l secured by means of the fasteners 2 to the ends of the shoe and also secured at the top thereof to the shoe by means of suitable stitching. rIhe bottom of the lining member l intermediate the ends thereof, is unsecured to the shoe soI that the lining member l forms a pocket in combination with the rear of the shoe whereby the corset member C can be placed and held in position or removed from the shoe. The corset member O consists of a relatively stiff and resilient inner member 4 which may be made of leather o-r any other suitable material. This inner member 4 has a symmetrical shape and has an intermediate crotch portion 5 and cut-out por tions 6, together with a wide and substan- Serial No. 657,134.

tial base 7. The inner member 4 is covered by two outer strips 8 preferably made of soft leather and these outer or covering strips 8 are connected by lines of stitching 9 so that the said covering strips 8 are connected to each other continuously along the outside of the inner member 4 and they are also connected to each other along the outlines of the cut-out portions 6.

A stiff corset is thus produced with the rigid and resilient portion substantially confined to the peripheral portions thereof and with relatively soft and yielding leather portions corresponding to the cut-out portions 6. The corset or support thus secured is held in place between the bottom of the inside of the shoe and the pocket formed by the lining member l as before mentioned.

After the corset has been put into position, that portion of the lining member l which is located over the crotch portion 5 of the corset may be secured to the back of the shoe by any suitable means such as by lines of stitching so that the corset is firmly held in position.

The heel and the rear of the foot of the wearer are thus firmly held by means of a resilient and relatively stiff corset, while the side portions of the rear of the shoe are free from any stiff parts whereby the desired supporting effect is Vsecured without any loss of comfort.

l have shown a preferred embodiment of my invention but it is clear that numerous changes and omissions can be made without departing from itsspirit.

I claim A stiff and resilient shoe corset having a relatively stiff and resilient inner member, said member having a continuous base portion and continuous upper symmetrically disposed cut-out portions continuous with said base and having an intermediate central space between them, said corset having outer covering portions made of relatively soft and pliable material, said outer covering portions being connected to each other along the outer peripheries of the said cut-out portions and alse along the inner peripheries of the said cut-out portions.
