A. W..CROWN GRMENT` RETAINER Filed sept. 29, 1922 amg Patented Sept. `16, 1924.
UNITED STATES AUGUST W. CROWN, or THiEE EIvEE FALLS, MINNESOTA. y
GARMENT RETAINER.
Application led September 29, 1922. Serial No. 591,240.
the leg close up to the crotch and which will firmly hold the shirt against upward movement, due to bending or other movement.
A further object of the invention is to provide such a device which is extremely simple in construction, strong, durable, highly efficient in use and comfortable to the wearer.
Other important objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.
Referring to the drawings,
Figure 1 is a front view of the invention, illustrating the same in position upon the wearer, and,
.Figure 2 is a perspective view of the device.
Referring tothe drawings in detail, and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout, the numeral 5 designates a human figure. The retainer comprises a leg encircling strap 6, having a hook or clasp 7 at one end thereof. This hook 7 co-acts with a button 8, carried by the end section 8 of a strap section 9. The end section 8 is angularly arranged with respect to the section 9, for the purpose of properly holding the strap 6 so that it conforms to the contour of the leg. The opposite end of the strap section passes through ring 10 and is folded upon itself and has connection with an adjustable clamp 11. The opposite end of the strap 6 also engages with the ring 10 and is secured thereto. It will be obvious that by sliding the adjusting clamp 11 along the strap y9, adjustment will be imparted to the strap 6. A short garment clamp is sewed to thestrap 9 at the point 12, and comprises the usual button 13 and eyelet 14. This short clamp is located at the front and in a position to clamp the front portions of the shirt. It will be seen from the drawings that two of these devices are employed, while only one is being described. Both devices are identical, excepting one is right and the other left.
To firmly hold the shirt down on the sides, I provide a strap section 1.5, which is sewed to the strap section 6 ata point 16 thereon. This strap carries the usual clamp 17 having eyelet 18 and button 19. All the straps employed are resilient.
In using the device, the strap 9 is adjusted to the pro-per length, so that the strap 6 will snugly fit the leg when positioned, due to the position of the section 8. The strap 6 is then passed around the leg close up to the crotch, and the hook 7 is engaged with the button 8. f The clamp 14 is then engaged with the lower front portion of the shirt. The clamp 17' is next engaged with the side portion of the shirt. The same operation takes place with both devices.
It will be obvious from the foregoing that l an extremely simple form of clamp has been provided, one which will positively hold the shirt in positiony in the trousers and one which is comfortable to the user. Devices heretofor useda are not only complicated, b-ut are extremely uncomfortable in use. The device is entirely out of the way, and may be quickly disengaged from the leg b-y simply disconnecting the hook 7. In other devices it is necessary to pull the retainer over the legs, and they -embody a nimber of straps which are very uncomforta le.
It is to be understood that the form of the invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as the preferred form thereof, but that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjo-inedj, claim.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Lettersl Patent is In combination, a leg encircling b-and of elastic material, of a pair of garment retaining elements secured thereto and extending upward therefrom, one of said retainingy elements formed longer than the other and adapted to be positioned at the outer side of the leg of the wearer, and the thereto, said last named section adapted to other of said elements formed comparatively have connection with the encircling band shortvanol adapted to lie adjacent the inner for properly positioning said band upon the 10 side of the leg of the wearer, an adjustleg of the wearer.
yable section located Within the length of the In testimony whereof I a-HX my signature encircling band and at-Seetcn Secured tV the adjustable section at an angle With respect AUGUST W. CROWN
