Be it known that I, SAMUEL LAPIN, a citizen of the United States, residin at New York city, in the county of New ork and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bead Stringers and Packages, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a bead Stringer and the method of wrapping the same and has for its primary object to produce a new article `of manufacture which can be displayed and sold for display cards..

One of the objects of my v invention is to provide a transparent wrapped package wherein the silk or` thread may be observed by the purchaser, the ends of the thread extendin outside the wrapped package and being o sufiicient thickness to break the seal of said package when opening the same.

A continued object of my invention 1s to provide a thread package protected by n. transparent coverlng, the thread being wrapped in such manner and the ends thereof extending outside vthe ackage whereby when the ends of the t read are seized and pulled, the transparent covering 1s broken, permitting the thread to -be un wrapped preliminary to stringlng' beads, for instance.

Referring now to the drawings, wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the thread or silk is wrapped horizontally and front end to end as indicated at 6 7, on a disk backing suchw as a piece of card board 8, the ends and sides ofwhich are cut out as indicated at numeral 9 to facilitate the wrapping or the thread thereon. The ends 10, of the thread are preferably stiffened by rolling the thread on a at spindle and coating the same with a covering of shellac applied with an ordinary brush. The shellac is heated over an electric heater and a second coating of shellaccontaininr coloring matter is applied and againheate over the electric heater. The thread is then cut to the proper length and wrap ed oil the stiff card or board as shown by igure 3. A transparenty covering having end and side tabs 11, 12, is wrapped about the stiff member 8 and the thread and silk, the said .tabs overlapping at the center and being preferably pasted together. The ends I() of the thread or, silk, however, extend beyond the corners of the tabs and preferably between the same so that when the ends are seizedand pulled toward the center of the package, the transparent wrapper isy broken and the member 8 with the thread thereon easil removed, preliminary to Stringing bea s.

The package isfof lsuch a iexible nature that the same -can be easily mounted on display cards and sold to the trade, the transparent covering protecting the thread or silk from being soiled. The vstifened ends 10 ofthe thread are such that it facilitates the easy Stringing of heads, pearls and other ornaments, said thread being wrapped in such a manner as to prevent the tangling of the same while it is'bein removed from the card board.

ile I have illustrated and described my invention with some degree of particularity, I realize that in practice various alterations therein may be made. I therefore reserve the rightr and privile e of changing the form of the details o construction or otherwise altering the arrangement of the correlated parts without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is 1. A package of the class described comprising a card notched at its sides and ends, a length of thread or silk having its ends Wraper enclosing the card and Ithe thread or sil the stiifened ends extending beyond Vthe card and the wrapper to facilitate opening of the package.
