Application filed September 24-,
The object of this invention is the manuiacture cf a powder box adapted to cona puff which will not he. in contact a the nowder, yet so arranged that the is easily accessible.
1 is a perspective View of a box emb-ou v'ing my invention.
Fig. :2 is a vertical cross section of the JOX and pull shown therein.
In the figures, 1 is the box which 2 is the base containing the powder 3, and -1- is the cover adapted to fit over the base. The top of the cover does not completely extend over it, but has a. central opening 5, surrounded by a flange 6, through which the pull 7 is pressed. The putt then lies securely on a horizontal partition 8 in the cover, so that the putt is not normally in contact with the powder atall.- 9 is the handle-strap by which the puli may be removed with ease.
The powder-putt is usually made of some fairly soft, spongy material and the diameter ot the flange 6 is such that the putt is firmly retainec thereby, yet admits of the ready extraction and placement of the pliant putt.
The article will usually be marketed conr plete; when it is desired to use the powder, the pull will first be removed from the flanged receptacle of the cover, and the cov- Sel'ial No. 664,347.
er then taken oil the box. After the powder applied, the box is covered and the pull s then pressed underneath the flange into lie putt receptacle.
. The primary advantage of this construction lies in the fact that the puff being absolute y separated from the powder, except when in use, will not become laden with a superfluous amount of powder as is usually the case. This insures economical use of the porv'der, and it prevents the scattering of the powder, which is one 01 the most annoying failings of the putt carried loose in the powder-box, and yet insures a sufficient quantity being taken on the puff, instead of too little, as is the case where a sitter or a compact is used.
