1 '0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EI'NER hl. lilomir, a citizen of the United Si ates, residing at Detroit, in the county of Vayne and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Games, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in games and has for an object the provision of a game of a noveland interesting character which may be played by two or more persons and which will afford instruction as well as amusement.

For this purpose, the invention provides a game apparatus having a number of pockets of difierent values which are adapted to receive balls propelled over a game sur face, with novel means for releasing the balls from the pockets and returning the balls to the players.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the follow-' ing novel features and details ofv construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a plan view of a game apparatus constructed in accordance with the invention.

Figure 2 is a side view of the same.

Figure 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.

Figure 4 is a section on the line 44 of Figure 2.

Referring to the drawings in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates a playing surface which may be be in the form of a board as shown, or a table. The board is supported in inclined position by means of legs 11 and is provided around its edge with an upwardly extending flange 12, one end of the board and the portion of the flange extending around its end being substantially semi-circular as shown at 13.

Extending transversely across the upper surface of the board but terminating short of one side edge so as to provide a passage 14, is a plurality of pockets 15 which open in the direction of the curved end of the board. These pockets are preferably provided with numbers which give each of the pockets a different value, so that balls or spheres 16 may be rolled up the inclined sur- Two or more per- The numbers are added and the player having the highest score, or the player reaching a given number first, being the winner of the game.

In order to return the balls to the players,

the inner ends of the pockets 15 are closed by a partition strip 16 which is mounted for vertical sliding movement through the board, this strip being common toall of the pockets and providing one wall for a compartment 17 which extends across the inner end of all of the pockets. The compartment 17 is further provided with oppositely extending walls 18 at the juncture of which there is provided an outlet opening 19.

This opening communicates by means of a runway 20 with a receptacle 21' extending fromthe edge of the board.

Pivotally mounted beneath the board as shown at 22 is a bell crank lever 23 which has one of its arms slidingly and pivot-ally connected to the partition strip 16 as shown at 24, while its other arm is pivotally connected to one end of a rod 25. Thisrod extends through a suitable guide bracket 26 and has its opposite end pivotally connected on to one arm of a bell crank lever 27 the said lever being pivotally mounted as shown at 28 and provided with an operating button or head 29. A spring 30 is mounted upon the rod 25 and has one of its ends bearing against the bracket 26 and its opposite end against a stop collar 31.

When it is desired to release the balls from the pockets 15, the button or head 29 is depressed so that the bell crank levers are rocked upon their pivots to move thepartition strip downward. The halls will then roll by gravity into the compartment 17 and will be directed to the outlet opening 19 by means of the inclined walls 18, the balls passing along the run-way 20 into the receptacle 21. When pressure upon the button or head is released, the spring 30 will return the partition strip 16 to its normal position.

The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor clined board having an upstanding marginal flange curved at one end of the board, a plurality of pockets extending transversely across the board adjacent the curved portion of the flange and opening toward said curved portion, said pockets being arranged to provide a passage between one of the pockets and the adjacent portion of the flange, a compartment extending across one end of all of the pockets, a movable partition strip dividing the pockets from the compartment, said strip being common to and providing a bottom wall for said pockets, yieldable means to hold the partition strip in place and means to move the partition strip to provide communication between the pockets and compartment.

A game apparatus comprising an inclined board having an upstanding marginal flange curved at one end of the board, a plurality of pockets extending transversely across the board adjacent the curved portion of the flange and opening toward said curved portion, said pockets being arranged to provide a passage between one of the pockets and the adjacent portion of the flange, a compartment extending across one end of all of the pockets, a movable partition strip dividing the compartment from the pockets, said strip being common to and providing a bottom wall for all of the pockets, a pivotally mounted bell crank lever having a sliding pivotal connection with the partition strip, a second pivotally mounted bell crank lever spaced from the first mentioned lever and a spring actuated rod connecting said levers to yieldingly hold the partition strip in place and provide means to move the partition strip and establish communication between the pockets and compartment.

A game apparatus comprising an inclined board having an upstanding marginal flange curved at one end of the board, a plurality of pockets extending transversely across the board adjacent the curved portion of the flange and opening toward said curved portion, said pockets being arranged to provide a passage between one of the pockets and the adjacent portion of the flange, a compartment extending across one end of all of the pockets, a movable partition strip dividing the ockets from the compartment, said strip eing common to and providing a bottom wall for said pockets, yieldable means to hold the partition strip in place, means to move the partition strip to provide communication between the pockets and compartment and a receptacle located at one edge of the board and having ccmmunication with the compartment.
