v UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JUZEF PRUSAK, OF EASTHAMPTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
SHADE AND CURTAIN HOLDER. 7
Application filed April 14, 1924. Serial No. 706,228.
poles, and has for its principal object to provide a simple and strong, readily attached and easily removed device for supporting a curtain pole and shade-roller.
Another purpose of the invention is in the provision of means whereby shade rollers of various lengths may be readily fitted on the supports thereof. I
These and other analogous aims, purposes 2 and objects are attained by the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafterdescribed and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is a partial front elevational view of a conventional type of window, showing the application of the invention.
Figure 2 is a perspective View showing the hanger in detail, and drawn to an enlarged scale.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the numeral 10 designates the frame of a con: ventional type of window, in which is the sliding sash 11 encasing the pane 12 in the usual manner.
On each of the upper corners of the frame 10 are the supports, generally designated by the numeral 1 1 (shown more clearly in Figure 2) comprised of a plate 4 15 having an upwardly extending element 16 from which projects a rod 17 having an upturned end 18 adapted to support a curtain pole in a manner which will be readily understood.
trally near each end of the plate 15, allowing screws or nails to pass through, by which the supports 14 are fastened to the window frame 10.- o
The top edge of the platel5 is downturned so as to form a socket or slideway 20 and the bottom edge of the plate 15 is re-,
A pair of openings 19 are provided cen entrantly curved as at 21 and is serrated or provided with teeth 22. I
Engaged in the slidewa s 20 and 21, to
slide closely adjacent the p ate 15, is a longitudinal plate 33 having at its inner front end an arm 24: extending outward at a right angle, ending at an car 25 containing a rectangular slot 26 which carries the pintle of a shade roller in the usual manner.
Extending up from the arm 24 is a reentrantly turned spring element 26 from which extends an outwardly spring element 27 terminating in a detent 28 adapted to engage between the teeth 22 thereby holding the slide in adjustment to suit the length of the shade roller.
In operation, to move the slidable plate 23, the spring detent 28 is raised, disengaging it from the teeth 22 and permitting the plate 23 to move inwardly, it being obvious that the' spring detent passes freely over the teetlrwhen the plate is moved outwardly.
From the foregoing it will be seen that a simple device'has been constructed whereby shade-rollersof various lengths may be supported thereon and also means for holding a curtain rod, this device being of relatively cheap construction and can be easily manufactured.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by LettersPatent, is
A shade support comprising a flat plate having holes to engage securing means, the upper and lower edges of said plate being turned re-entrantly to constitute a slideway, said lower edge containing a plurality of spaced triangular notches, a metal strip engaged in saidslideway to bear against said plate, a right angled element formed on said strip to engage the flattened pintle of a shade roller, an integral arm on the end of said strip bent to constitute a flat spring extending from theupper edge of said ele ment rearward and below to mak contact with the lower edge, and a detent at the end of said arm ,engageable with the notches in said lower edge. In witness whereof I have affixed my signature.
