STATES KASIMIR T. MARCZAK, OF MASSENA, NEW YORK.
ICE-CREAM CONTAINER.
Application filed May 17, 1924. Serial No. 714,049.
a citizen of the United States, residing at Massena, in the county of St. Lawrence and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ice-Cream Containers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in containers for ice cream or other confection, but'is not limited to such use.
An important object of this invention is to provide a container of the above character in which the confection and means for dispensing said confection, may be carried.
Another object of this invention is to provide a container of the above character in which the container for the confection and .the container for the dispensing means may be stacked one upon the other.
Another object of this invention is to provide containers of the above character in which the confection and confection dispensing means containers may be separated so that the confection can be placed in a suitable place such as a cooling cabinet or the like and the confection dispensing means containers may be stacked in another place to take up less room in the cooling cabinet.
A further object of this invention is to provide a container made up of sections into which the goods may be packed in layers so that access to any particular section may be had without disturbing the contents of the other sections, and when one or more layers of the goods has been used, the section or sections containing such can be thrown away and the remaining sections left to form a receptacle of a size no larger than is necessary to contain the remaining goods, be they in one or more layers.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent durlng the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals and letters are employed to designate like parts throughout the same.
Figure 1 is a plan view of the container showing the tab for removing the sanitary ca of the various sections,
l igure 2 is a side elevation of the removable sanitary cap with the tab shown in dotted lines,
Figure 3' is a vertical sectional view through a main section, one part of which contains the confection and the other the confection dispensing means,
F igure.4 is a horizontal sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Figure 3,
Figure 5 is a front elevation of a contamer composed of a series of sections, Figure 6 is a vertical sectional view showmg a series of confection containing section stacked one upon another, and,
Figure 7 is a vertical sectional View show-- ing a series of confection dispensing means containers stacked oneupon another.
Referring to the details of the drawings, the letter X indicates generally a rece tacle or container composed of' a multiplicity of main sections A, B, C, D, E, -F, and G. A complete main section of the receptacle is further divided into a body section 10 and a cover section 11, the section 10 being adapted to receive ice cream or other confection, while the section 11 is adapted to receive means for dispensing the confection contained in the section 10.
The body section 10 is provided with a partition member 12 therein, to form the bottom of said section. The partition member 12 is formed above the lower edge of the section 10 and below the-center thereof to provide a flange 13 to overlap the section immediately below it, while the upper end 14 of the body section is smaller in circumference than the remainder of the body to provide a shoulder 15 to support the cover section 11. The arrangement of the partition 12 below the center of the body section, provides a greater space in whlch to pack the confection.
A detachable sanitary cap 16, having a finger engaging tab 17, is provided to seal the body and cover sections.
The cover section 11 is provided with a centrally located partition member 18 to form the bottom of said section. The portion 19 of the body above the partition 18 is smaller in circumference than the remainder of the receptacle to provide a shoulder 20 for supporting another section of the receptacle, w 10h may be placed upon it, while the portion 21 extending be ow the partition forms a flange to receive the section below it.
In use the section 10 is filled with ice cream and then sealed by a detachable cap 16. The cover section 11 is adapted to reccive spoons and napkins and is also sealed by a detachable cap 16. The cover section 11 is then placed upon the body section 10.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described, is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes in the shape, size, and arrangement of parts may be resorted towithout departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
What I claim as new is:
A container comprising a lower section having upper and lower portions, the upper portion being less in diameter than the lower portion whereby an annular shoulder is formed at the exterior of the section and at the line of merger between the upper and lower portions, a partition disposed across the interior of said section and located in a plane lying between the lower edge of the section and the shoulder, an
upper section having upper and lower portions the lower portion of the upper section adapted to fit snugly over the smaller portion of the lower section and rest at its edge upon the shoulder of the lower section, the upper portion of said upper section being less in diameter than the lower portion thereof thereby formin shoulders at the inner and outer sides 0 the upper section, the upper portion of the upper section being of the same diameter as the upper portion of the lower section, the lower portion of the upper section being of the same diameter as the lower portion of the lower section, the upper section having a partition which lies across the interior thereof and located in the same plane as the shoulders formed on said section, and closures of the same diameter fitting in the upper endof both sections.
In testimony whereof, I have affixed my signature.
