INSECT EXTERMINATOR.
Application filed February 4, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VVALTER R. lVILsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Insect Exterminators, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an electrical insect exterminator, particularly useful for exter minating ants.
Referring to the annexed drawing in which my invent-ion is illustrated and which forms a. part of this specification,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention.
Figure 2 is a plan View of my invention.
Figure 3 is a transverse vertical section of my invention taken on line 33 of Figure 2.
In the drawing 1 indicates an elliptical metal receptacle in which are four blocks 2 of insulation, two of which being located adjacent one side wall near the end of the receptacle and the othertwo being located adjacent the other side wall near the end of the receptacle, said blocks being secured in the receptacle by screws 3 extending therein through the bottom of the receptacle. Stud screws l are secured in the top of the blocks 2. An elliptical metal plate 5, slightly smaller in size than the interior of the receptacle 1, is provided with four holes 6 and is adapted to rest on top of the blocks 2 with the stud screws 4 extending through said holes and the edge of the plate a short distance inwardly from the upper edge of the side and end walls of the receptacle.

The insects crawl up the side and end walls of the receptacle onto the plate 5 and when the front legs of the insects are on the plate and their hind legs on the top of the receptacle side and end walls the insects are electrocuted.
Having described my invention I claim:
An apparatus for exterminating insects comprising a metallic receptacle open at its upper end, a metal plate having upwardly extending vertical flanges around its periphery located nearthetop of said receptacle and supported by blocks of insulation within the receptacle, the plate being spaced from the sides of the receptacle at all points in its periphery, an electrical conductor operatively connected to the receptacle and a second electrical conductor similarly connected to the plate.
