CHAIN ATTACHMENT FOR ELEVATOR BUCKETS.
Application filed pril 12, 1920.
To all w 710m t may concern.'
Be it known that I, HENRY B. V'nminn. a citizen ot the United States. and resident ot1 Lancaster, in the county of Fairtield and State ot' Ohio. have invented a new and useful Improvement in Cha-in Attachments tor Elevator Buckets; and l do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear. and exact description thereof.
My invention relates to a chain attachment Jfor elevator buckets.
The object ot' my invention is to provide a connection ot this character which will reduce to a minimum the possibility oi: the chain being wrenched or torn trom the buckets, while at the same time the conne@ tion will act to strengthen or stiften the bucket and protect the same against the se vere wear to which such buckets are subw jected.
T o these ends my invention consists, generally stated7 in a chain with the links which connect it to the elevator bucket formed ot angles extending beyond the link-pins and secured at such points to the bottom ot the bucket.
In the accompanying drawing, Fig'. Yi is a. perspective view of the bottom of a bucket showing my invention applied thereto; Fig.
2 is a plan view ot a portion ot' a bucket and my invention and Fig. 3 -is a perspective View of one of the angle links.
In the drawing7 the numeral Q designates Specification of Letters Patent.
Fatented July iii, i922.
Serial No. 373,325.
a suitable elevator bucket, preferably made ot wrought iron or steel. The chain 3 has the angle-links 4 which are connected to the adjoining links ot the chain by the link pins 5 in the ordinary manner. These anglelinks extend beyond the link-pins 5 and are bolted to the bottom ot the bucket 2 by the bolts G which pass through the tianges 'T ot the angle-links at points beyond the linkpins By having the angledinks extended in this manner. the bottom of the bucketis rein-forced and given added strength and stiffness to withstand the severe usage to which such buckets are subjected.
Furthermore by having the links 4 extendingA beyond the link-pins and secured to the bucket beyond the link-pins so as to give a wide spacing` ot the bolts 6, the chances of the bolts tearing` loose from the buckets is reduced to a minimum.
Vilhatl claim is:
A chain connection for elevator buckets comprising' angle-links extending beyond the link-pins. and fastening; devices located beyond the link-pins for securing' the said angle-links to said buckets.
ln testimony whereof. l, the said HENRY B. VALKER, have hereunto set my hand.
HENRY B. VLKEH.
llllitnesses XVM. H. BLENKO, TRECY H. Strnnwoon.
