To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that. I, ALLEN A. VAN Ons- DALE, a citizen of the United States, residing at.Philadelphia, in the countyof Philadels 'pliia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Containers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to containers and it flow in regulated or other predeterminedquantities.

Another object of the invention isto provide a container or cartridge of the class above specified which by its novel structure lends to increased cleanliness and better sanitation in that its content can be'exhausted with the minimus of contact with the receptacle into which the said container or cartridge is inserted for the discharge of its contents.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a container or cartridge of the nature referred to' which is characterized by the fact that when placed in position for use it can be automatically punctured to the requisite degree for effecting the discharge of its contents.

Referring to the drawings which illustrate the embodiment of my invention as more particularly adapted for containing fluid, liquid or similarsubstance or compositions of matter, the numeral 10 designates a cylindrical or tubular body havinga bottom 11 and a top 12, the latter being hermetically sealed thereon after said body 10 has been filled with a liquid or fluid 13, such as lubricating oil for example.

Conveniently axially central of the bottom 11 I form a conical indent 14 of reduced thickness in cross section of the material,'and radially projecting therefrom I form rooves or creasings 15 similarly of reduced thlckness in cross section.

Integral with the top or cover 12 and centrally thereof I form a button or finger grip 16-Figures 1 and 2-which is preferably seated in a dished part 17 so that no protrusion exists beyond the plane of the.

, In some instances I may insert the top or cover '12 as shown by Figures 4 and 5, and in this case I prefer to provide a collapsible finger grip 18 of appropriate nature and dimensions, and it will be readily seen that in this instance compactness is also eflectedthe parts being shown somewhat exaggerated in order to ensure a clear conception of the. invention.

In use, and assuming that the container or cartridge 10 is filled'with a fluid or liquid-such as a lubricating oil-and that said container or cartridge is adapted for insertion vinto a lubri'cator cup having an upstanding conical projection over the discharge orifice it will be readily seen that said projection will pierce the conical indent 14 and that by virtue of the radially projecting grooves or creasings 15 an easy and even rent. will result whereby the content of the container or car- 'tridge is discharged. c a

Furthermore, 1t will be readily seen'that the provision of'the button 16-or finger grip downward pressure thereon will materially aid in the puncturing of said container when the latter are full as prior to use.

'Whilst I have referred to one particular application of my invention it is to be clearly understood that I do not restrict myself in any way to its use or to the material from which the container or cartridge 10 is made providing it be of a nature and texture which lends itself readily to formation in the manner set forth, and by the .use of which a serviceable article is produced, the indent 14 and creasings or grooves 15 of reduced thickness only serving to effect the easy productionof a discharge outlet and in no way materially reducing the strength of the surrounding parts when the container orcartridge is full. Obviously cartridges or containers of the nature described may be employed in numerous Ways, for example asjcontainers for liquid soap, cleansing fluid, or as containers for any other fluid, liquid, plastic or semi-plastic substances to be dispe'nsed in redetermined quantities, and it will be sel -evident that by my invention I provide a sanitary and extremely useful article for the purposes briefly referred to.

Finally, I wish, it understood that whilst there'has been shown and described the best known embodiment of this invention it'is to be clearly understood thatI do not limit myself in any way to the shape or pattern set forth but deem myself at liberty to make suchv changes therein as reasonably fall within the scope of the appended claims,

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. As a new article of manufacture, a holder for fluid substance consisting of a cylindrical container having a closed-in and an opposed sealable end, said closed-in end having a centrally disposed indent and grooves of reduced thickness in cross-section radiating therefrom so that when a fixed resistance is encountered by said indent a puncturing of the closed-in end results.

As a new article of manufacture, a holder for fluid substance consisting of a cylindrical container having a closed in and grooves of reducedthickn'ess in cross-section radiating therefrom so that when a fixed resistance is encountered by said indent a puncturing of the closed-in end results, and an inset finger-hold axially central of the outer face of the sealable end.

As a new article of manufacture, a holder for fluid substance consisting of a cylindrical container having a closed-in and an opposed sealable'end, said closed-in end having a centrally disposed indent 'and grooves of reduced thickness in cross-section radiating therefrom so that when a fixed resistance is encountered by said indent a v puncturing of the closed-in end results, and

a collapsible inset finger-hold axially central of the outer face of the sealable end.
