Supported or seated on an appropriate stand or footpiece 18 in the lower part of the ire-storage chamber l2 is a tray or receptacle 19 for a quantity of salt 20 on which the broken ice 21 is stacked until said chain-- ber 12 and extension 16 are filled. In order to provide an ellectire and reliable support for the ice-cream cans or other receptacles 43 when immersed in the sohr tion within the brine tank 1l l preferably employ a false or inner cover 4l appropriately supported on a surrounding' flangee5, the apertures in said cover el having espansible ri'ng flanges 46 which serre to inaintain the cans 43 perfectly vertical, said ei;- pansible ring: flanges 46 being employed to accommodate structural inequalities in said cans. lt is also to he observed that the cans or other receptacles 43 are. supported or suspended Within the brine tank l1 lj the usual bead or lip 47 at or near their upper edge whereby the ordinary covers i8 thereH 4for can be freely removed and replaced. Still further it is to be noted that the cans or other receptacles i3 are suspended from. the false or inner cover le so that they are completely surrounded lijf the brine solution amener at a level so ae not to contact with or foal either the channel or trough i37 pipe 38 or stand-pipe 22. Thus it will be readily seen and very clearly understood that when the ordinary cover or lid 9 is raised comparatively little er no cold energy can escape save that which is liberated when the cover of .one indiif'idual can or other receptacle a3 is removed to take ice cream therefrom or for replenishintr purposes.
ln the modilied form of the invention shown in'lfirfure 3 it is to be observed that the ice-chamber 16 is made as a detached unit and is connected up to the refrigerator bv means ot' a coupling; through which the pip-e 38 is axially conducted so that a supporting passage is provided for the flow of the solution from said chamber into the brine tank ll as will be readily understood by those acquainted with the art to which this invention appertains.
Still further I wish to point out that in the form of the invention illustrated by Figures l. and 2 the ilividii'rel wall between the brine tanl: ll and iee-storagfe chamber 12 mar be constructed as vertically movable slide so thatI whenever desired broken ice maybe allo-ered to 'flow into the brine-tank ll.
