Description
Oct. 30, 1923. 1 1,4725% W. R. WHITTEMORE ROTATING SERVER Filed March 15, 1922 @lizgi/ l/VVE To? Patented @ct. 3(1), 1923.
ROTATING SERVER.
Application filed March 15, 1922. Serial No. 543,932.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, VVALLAon R. Wriirrn- MORE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Binghamton, in the county of 5 Broome and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rotating Servers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in rotating servers or dining room servers for dining room tables or other tables or counters where food is served and where articles for table service are used, and it has for its object to provide a series of artistic rotating shelves, and supports where the varied articles of table service may be placed and arranged so as to bring them within the handy reach of the users, and at the same time present an artistic and finished article of ornament to the table.
With these objects in view my invention consists in certain novel features of con struction and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1, is a plan view of my device mounted on a table.
Fig. 2 is a side view of my device placed 3 on a table.
Fig. 3 is a side view of a detailed part of my device.
Fig. 4, is a side view of a detailed part of my device.
Fig. 5 is a side view of a detailed part of my device.
Fig. 6 is an edge view of a detailed part of my device.
Fig. 7 is a plan view of a detailed part of my device.
The same reference characters denote like parts in each of the several figures of the drawings.
In carrying out my invention, 1 provide a base A, preferably circular in form, in the center of which I have a threaded socket 3, and in which I mount the threaded spindle l, having the lower screw threaded shank 5; on the spindle 4i, 1 mount the tubular standard 6, which has threaded connection with the base support 8 which is fastened in the center of the lower shelf 9, which opening also extends through said support; the top of the standard (5 is closed, and the closed top rests upon the point of spindle l; around standard 6, l mount a slidable collar 11, in which I have the set screw 12; slidably mounted on standard 6 and resting on collar 11, 1 have the support 13 and mounted on support 18, I have the perforated shelf 14, the openings in which are adapted to hold articles of table service. On the upper end of standard 6, and having threaded connection therewith, I have the support 15, which is mounted in any convenient manner in the center of the under side of the upper shelf 16; the upper shelf 16, has let into its outer edge the curved recesses 17 17, 17 5 the upper and lower shelves 16 and 9 respectively are constructed preferably of wood with a highly polished surface, and about the edge thereof, I have mounted a metallic border of polished material 21. Mounted on the under side of shelf 16, l have the metallic supports 18, 18, 18 in which are mounted the curved hangers, 19, 19, 19 and on the lower end of hangers 19, I have the disc shaped shelves 20, 20, 20, preferably of wood and having upon them the metallic border or edging 21, 21, 21, these shelves being for the purpose of holding various additional articles of table service, and forming a varied ornamental feature of the structure.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and for which, I desire Letters Patent, is as follows:
1. In rotating table servers for tables, a base, aspindle vertically and centrally mounted in the base, a shelf provided with an opening through which said spindle passes, said opening being threaded, a tubular standard mounted on said spindle with its lower end screwed into the opening in the shelf, a collar slidably and adjustably mounted on the standard, a support mounted on the standard and resting upon the collar, a perforated shelf slidably mounted on the standard and held by said. support, an upper shelf removably mounted on the upper end of the standard and provided with recesses in the edge thereof, and a series of suspended shelves below the upper shelf edge thereof, brackets depending from the V and in alinement with said recesses. under side of the shelf opposite said recesses 10 2. In a device of the class described, a and disk shaped shelves supported by said portable base, a spindle vertically supportbrackets beneath the recesses.
5 ed in the base, a sleeve closed at its upper In testimony whereof I have afiiXed my end and rotatably mounted on the spindle, a signature.
shelf supported on the upper end of the sleeve and provided with recesses in the WALLACE R. VVHITTEMORE.
