Be it known that I, ALroNso A. BANKS, a citizen of the United States, and resident of borough of Manhattan, county of New York, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly Paper.

This invention relates to improvements in fly paper and containers therefor and the principal object of the invention is to pro vide a strip of paper presenting the largest possible adhesive surface which is arranged in such a manner as to be folded into a minimum space and provide the small package which may be readily retailed at a moderate figure.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a container having two separate parts arranged to provide cups in which opposite ends of the adhesive strip are secured.

.dtill another object of the invention is to provide a hanger which is formed integrally with the container.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists of a novel construction combination and arrangement of parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Fig. l. is a perspective view of my fly paper strip, showing the same connected at opposite ends to the interiors of the cups forming a container, and

Referring to the drawings in detail, the numeral 5 designates the strip which is provided at opposite faces with a suitable adhesive preparation such as is ordinarily applied to sheets of fly paper, which strip is creased as at 6, so as to permit the same to fold upon itself'in a zigzag manner as is shown.

Secured to opposite ends of the strip are the cupped members 7, which are arranged to cooperate to form an enclosure for the strip 5, when the same is in -folded or collapsed position. Formed in the bottom wall of one cupped member 7, is a U shaped slot 8, which is arranged to provide a securing tongue 9, which is bent outwardly and per iterated as at 10.

When the device is in condition for sale or shipment the strip is contained between the bottom. walls of the cupped members 7 and'the tongues 9 are bent inwardly into the recesses formed by the U shaped slots 8. In this condition it will. be noted that a particularly compact package will be provided which effectively protects the adhesive surface of the strip 5 and permits the device to be readily transported. When it is desired to use the device, the tongues 9 are bent outwardly shown in the drawings so that they extend at right angles to the planes at the bottoms of the cups. VVhereupon it is readily possible to extend the strip and separate the members 7. It is obvious that the openings 10 may be used to receive suitable securing members by which the device may be suspended. The lower end of the strip 5 is glued or otherwise secured to the bottom wall of the lower cup 7, in such a manner as to close the openings formed by the bending of the tongue 9 as trequently during warm weather the adhesive substance commonly applied to fly paper sheets will soften and run. The lower cup 7 will act to prevent the dripping of the adhesive on to any object beneath the strip. Owing to the fact that the cups 7 are identical in construction and that both ends of the strip 5 are secured in a like manner it will be obvious that either end may be placed upwardly with the 4 same result.

l/Vhile in the foregoing there has been shown and described a preferred embodis meat of this invention, it is to be understood that certain minor changes in the details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

What is claimed is 1. A device of the class described comprising a strip of material, the entire surface of which is coated with an adhesive and creased to fold alternately in opposite direction and a cup at each end of the strip to completely enclose said strip when the device is out of operation and to receive the adhesive that drips from said strip.
