Be it known that ll, JAMES C. lVnus'rnn, a citizen of the United States. residing at Topeka, in the county of Shawnee and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful ln'iprovements in Hotel Key Checks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of' the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective View of a key check constructed in accordance with my invention, showing the same attached to a key.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same on the plane indicated by the line (1L-a of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view oi the same.
Figures 4 5 are detail plans ot the separated parts of the lock.
Figure 6 is a detail elevation. showing the socket member of the i'astener which secures the card between the check members.
My improved key check comprises a pair of blanks or members 1-2 which are here shown as oblong rectangular form but which may be of any suitable shape and may be ot any suitable size` Preferably the said members are made of leather but they may be made of any other suitable material, within the scope of my invention, Each ot the said members has an opening 8 and a card 4 which is used for advertising, adapted to be placed between the members to display its advertising content or matter through the openings 3. The members are here shown as sewed together at 5, along their side edges and around the inner end, which is formed 1921. Serial No. 467,900.
with a tab 6, the outer end 7 of the check being open between the members, tto permit the insertion and removal oi" the card 4t. Said card when in place is secured by a suitable fastener 8 or by any suitable means. The tab portions of the members are provided with openings 9.
A lock 10 is provided to secure the key to the check and is preferably made ot nickel plated sheet metal. This lock comprises a pair of circular disks or plates 11-12 which are identical in construction and which are placed in the openings 9 ot the members 1-2 respectively and are secured in said openings by base iianges 13 which bear against the inner sides of said members and outer flanges 111 which are struck up from the key members and constitute U-shaped or peripherally grooved attaching` rims which bear around the said openings and on the outer sides of said members 1 2. The member 11 of the lock has a key slot 16 which eX- tends across the center of the bottom thereof and is formed with a central circular enlargement 17. The member 12 has a similar key slot 18 which is 'formed with a central circular enlargement 19.
The lock members are attached to the check members before the latter are sewed or otherwise secured together at their sides and the key is placed in the slots ot the lock members while the said slots register with. and said lock members are so secured to the check members that when the latter are secured together' the slots of the check members will be arranged at right angles to each other so that the shank oic the key is engaged in the openings formed by the enlargen'ient oi" the slots and hence the key cannot be removed, The name of the hotel together with its address may be printed on one ot the check members just below the lock and the number of a room in the hotel correspondingwith thekey may be printed in a corresponding place on the other cheek member` Having thus described n v invention. l' claim r- 1.
