C. B. WILLIAMS ET AL.
SANITARY NAPKIN SUPPORTER. FILED JUNE 17, 1922.
mad/3742 5/2/9019 F. B/W/I/EE Patented Mar. 1923.
ti r
COR-A B. WILLIAMS AND SARAH F. BARKER, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK.
SANITARY NAPKIN SUPPORTER.
Application filed June 17, 1922.
To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that we, CoRA B. WILLIAMS I and SARAH F. BARKER, citizens of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Sanitary Napkin Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in a sanitary napkin supporter for use by women during menstruation periods and is especially constructed to overcome every inconvenience of the unsupported napkin.
One object of this invention is to provide 5 a light, moisture proof garment which fits the body closely and avoids chafing.
Another object of this invention is to provide a garment of this character which is held in place by snap fasteners, no hooks or r 2 0 buckles being employed for this purpose.
Other objects will appear from a consideration of the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part thereof and in which Fig. 1 is a plan view of this garment; and
Figs. 2 and 3 are enlarged cross-sectional views taken along the lines 22 and 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing it will be noted that the napkin supporter comprises a pouch or sack 10 to each end of which are secured tabs 11 of cotton cloth. This sack 10 is preferably of rubber sheeting folded in along each edge to provide flaps 12 for a purpose to be disclosed below. The tabs .11, are similarly folded at 13 and the outer corners are turned back to form triangular tips 14. Thus the flaps 12 are held in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 3 to form pockets.
Within the pouch 10 is laid a napkin 15 folded to the proper dimensions, the sides of which are slipped into the pockets formed by the flaps 12 and it is removably held in Serial No. 569,158.
place by safety pins 16 which are passed through the ends of the napkin and the tabs 11. These pins do not come in contact with the rubber sheeting and are covered by straps 17 which are secured by snap fasteners 18 to the tabs 11 at the folds 13. The napkin supporter is attached to a belt (not shown) by the triangularly arranged snap fasteners 19.
Having thus described our invention that which we claim'as new and for which we desire the protection of Letters Patent of the United States is the following:
1. A sanitary napkin supporter comprising a pouch of rubber sheeting, tabs of cloth secured to each end of said pouch, the side edges of said pouch being folded over to form pockets and being held in such' position by said tabs, said pouch and tabs forming a holder in which a napkin may be laid with its side edges in said pockets, napkin securing means passed through the ends of said napkin and said tabs, and straps removably'secured to said tabs and normally covering saidfastening means.
2. A sanitary napkin supporter compris ing a pouch of rubber sheeting, tabs of cloth secured to each end of said pouch, the side edges of said pouch being folded over to form pockets and being held in such position by said tabs, said pouch and tabs forming a holder in which a napkin may be laid with its side edges in said pockets, napkin securing means passed through the ends of said napkin and said tabs, snap fasteners on said tabs, straps engaging said fasteners and normally covering said securing means, so and snap fasteners at the tips of'said tabs by which said supporter is held in position.
' In testimony whereof we aflix our signatures.
CORA B. WILLIAMS.
SARAH F. BARKER.
