Be it known that I, EDWIN W. Loves, a
residing at Norfolk, in the county of Norfolk and State of more fully pointed out invented certain new and in Receptacles, of a specification. My invention relatesto receptacles.
The objectof the invention is to provide receptacle for ice cream, oysters and other cylindrical box and be transformed into saucer from which food may be eaten.
Further objects and advantages will be described herein and specifically recourse being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this speciacation in which:
when formed into Figure .1 is a attened out.
Figure 2 is an elevation of the receptacle a box, and
of the receptacle plan of my invention when Figure 3 is a side view when transformed into a saucer or dish.
dicate similar 'In the drawing like reference numerals inparts in all the several views. My invention is formed from a blankor circular disc of paper, cardboard or similar ,materlal, suitably waxed or otherwise rendered waterproof. and crimped or folded from the bottom circle 1 to the periphery,
starting at points 1, increasing in width as the folds leave the centre or bottom 1. The starting point.
are at a slight tangent to the circle 1 and may be of any number as 12, as shown on the drawing.
The crimped or folded portions have wide arts 2 and narrow surfaces 3 and when my in the claims hereunto annexed,

device is compressed by the hand to form a. cylindrical box, as in Figure 2, the folds overlap each other as shown. hen the receptacle is used as a box as in Figure 2, it is dipped in melted wax, paraffin or some adhesive substance and upon cooling suffices to hold the folds 2 and 3 to: gether in any position and, when the box is to be used as a saucer, it is forcibly spread towards a flattened position, as shown in Figure 3. v v a When the receptacle is used as a box, the top 4 is applied when the same is filled with its contents, and holds the folds in contact with each other in addition to the adhesive dip, by coverin the edge 5. The receptac es are made slightly tapering, as in Figure 2, to permit them to be nested for packing and transportation.
y invention can be desired and is both cheap and effective besides providing a handy carrier for many uses.
I claim A receptacle formed of a single piece of paper, said paper adapted to be unequally and tangentially creased from a given central circular space to the outer edge of the blank to form a cylindrical container and of sufficient stifiness to adapt same to be formed into a flattened position, andcover means a cylindrical form. In testimony whereof I have hereunto afxed my signature in the presence of two WALTER B. Bmmow, VVILLIA B. WATSON.
