The present invention relates to improvements in door openers or door pulls and the invention will be found more particularly useful in connection with screen doors, al-
though of course it is understood that the invention is not limited to this application alone.
it is an object of the present invention to provide a device on a swinging screen or other door that may be engaged by the foot to pull the door open, when the hands are other ise occupied as for instance in carrying bundles. The invention obviates the necessity for putting down the bundles in order to free the hands.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device for the above described pur pose which will be capable of reversal to fit doors that open either f om the left toward the right or from tl. *ight toward the left, whereby it will be unnecessary to manufacture the devices in right and left shapes and to inspect them before application to any particular door.
A further object of the present invention resides in providing an improved door opener which will be simple in construction and adjustment and will be cheap in manufacture.
The above, and various other objects and advantages of this invention will in be described in, and in part be understood from, the following detailed description of the present preferred embodiment. the same being illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary elevational view of a door which opens from the left toward the right, and which is shown equipped with an improved door opener constructed in accordance with the present invention.

Referring more particularly to the drawwhich show only one mechanical eniodirnent of the invention, 10 designates a niate advantageousl although not necessarily. of general triangular for-n1 having .e indicator. in Fig. Tl 11 is also of a shape approaching a triangle and is perforated with one or more holes 12, through which nails, screws or other fas toning means may be passed to secure the flange 11 against the outer surface of a door.

The apex perforation 18 is adapted to receive a bolt, or other fastening means, 16, which also passes through a shank 17 near one end thereof and forms a center about which the shank 17 may rotate through a limited degree. The shank 17 also carries a bolt, or other fastening means 18 which may engage through the perforations 14 in the plate 10, as shown in Fig. 5; or, after the shank 17 is rotated about the bolt 15, the other bolt 18 may enter the perforation 15 of the plate 10 as shown in Fig. 3. 3 and 5 show the parts reversed.

As shown in Fig. 2 a door-.22- is mounted in the frame 23 on hinges 24 that allow of the door opening from the right toward the left. In this figure is also shown a device for application to doors of the type shown in the above Figs. 1 and 9..
As shown in Fig. 8 the shank 1? is pre'l erably reinforced along opposite longitudinal edges by flanges 25 that are preferably A foot piece or rod 27 is preferably formed in one piece with the shank 17 and projects at an obtuse angle therefrom; this foot piece or rod 2'? being of preferably a substantially tubular forni shown in Fig. 8 for facilitating the engagement of the foot therewith.
In use, the foot piece 17 is held in a downwardly inclined position near the lower free edge of the door where it may be readily engaged by the foot to cause the opening of thedoor. The door is opened in this way easily with sufiicient force to swing it to a wide open position, whereby a person, for
instance laden with bundles, may be enabled to pass into a house without laying down the bundles, and the door will close after such person, as screen doors, and the like are usually provided with springs for this purpose. l donot wishto be limited to size, form or proportions-of the'variou's parts and it is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention, provided such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim. 7
