HERMAN" KRUSE, OI JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY".
TRANSFER-PAPER AND INK THEREFOR.
T 0 all whom it may concern.
Be 'it known that I, HERMAN KRUSE a citizen of the United States, residing at ersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements Papers and Inks Therefor, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in transfer papers, and more particularly has reference to the ink to be applied thereon. Heretofore it has not been possible to ink these papers 1n a printing press owing to the stiff and hard character of the ink which does not transfer properly from the rolls and does not work as printing ink should do owin largely to the considerable amount of para fi in used in the manufacture of material.
According to a preferred embodiment of my invention I refer to mix about 54 arts by weight of mmeral oil-such as para n oil with about 45 parts by weight of stearin pitch also known as ink makers pitch, and
also about 43; parts by weight of paraffin wax. This forms the vehicle. I now prefer lbs. of this vehicle, about 20 lbs. of carbon or grindv the entire mixture on a printing ink mill and apply the ink thus made to the surface of the paper by a printing press. The

transfer sheets thus made will be found to readily transfer impressions from pencil, stylus, stifi' pen, or the like, although this form of transfer sheet is not the kind usually employed for typewriting purposes.
Of course it will be ous modifications may be made in the several ingredients and the proportions ofthe same and in the manner of combining the same without 'departin from the spirit of the invention as claimeg;
. I claimzi Y 1. In a transfer ink, stearin pitch as part of the vehicle thereof.
2. In a transfer ink, ground with carbon. v
3. In a transfer ink, about 54 parts mineral oil, about 45 parts stearin pitch, and abouti parts paraifin wax combined in the proportion about 100 lbs. of the same to about 20 lbs. of carbon black color base.
4:. A transfer sheet having on one side a transferable coatin containing pitch, paraflin and a black co or base.
5. A transfer sheet coated on one side with a mixture of mineral oil, stearin'pitch, parafiin wax, andcarbon black.
parafiin and pitch understood that varisignature.
HERMAN KRUSE.
