This invention relates to the class of games and toys, and more particularly to an improved automatic or motor operated toy, which for purposes of convenience, l call an automatic anvil chorus toy.
It is the object of the invention to provide an improved actuatingl means for a toy of the above class, adapted to be operated by a spring motor capable of being' wound as desired, whereby two objects will be caused to strike blows on an anvil and to give corresponding sounds for the amusement especially of children.
With the above and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that within the scope or' what is claimed, changes in the precise embodiment of the invention shown canbe made without departingv from the spirit of the of which the followinvention.

Referring to the drawing in detail, in which like reference characters designate similar parts throughout several views, the numeral 10 designates a casing preferably provided with a bottom wall 11, a front wall 12 and end walls 13. The top and rear side of the casing are open and said casingupon the bottom wall 10 is designed to support a spring motor 14- comprising` a suitable frame 15 supporting the actuating` mechanism de sin-ned to be operated by a spring 16 and a stiitable train of gea-ring 17 including;` a ratchet device 0r pallet mechanism 18 for regulatingv the speed ot operation thereo'. The lower bifurcated ends of the figures which might be 0i suitable configuration, are connected by a rod 28 having connection through a connecting rod 29 to one side of the longitudinal center thereof, eccentrically with a crank disk 30 suitably driven by the. motor. Thus, when the motor is actuated, the connecting' rod will impart reciprocatory motion to the rod 29, thus causing` oscillation of said Figures toward and away from the anvil. Each ligure carries in the arms 31 thereof, a hammer or sledne 32 adapted to strike the anvil, and as each of the hammers and the anvil are made of ditferent metals, a different sound or tone will be produced for each stroke of the hammer as the same are caused to sucessively strike the anvil, to produce the anvil chorus or tune.
Having thus fully described the invention what l claim is:
In a device of the character described, a casing, said casing including side walls, pivot pins connecting' the side walls adjacent to the ends thereof, a cross bar, end walls forming a part of the casing and havingconnection with the cross bar, said pivot pins extending through the cross bar, lic-ure members, said figured members having bifurcated portions adapted to embrace por` tions of the cross bar, said pivot pins passing through the bifurcated portions of the figure members, a rod connecting the lower extremities of the bifurcated portions ad jacent to thelower ends thereof, a motor positioned within the casing, a connecting rod operated by the motor and connected to the rod for imparting reciprocating motion thereto, for operating' the figure members.
