original application' medi/[ay 21:, 1920,' `Serin No. asa-278, Divided and this application (filed January 1,3', 1,921. serial No. 437,026.-
rlhis invention relates to heating stoves, and particularly to an oven for su'chstoves. The object is to provide a heating stove having an oven forv baking or similar purposes placed above the fire in such position as to receive the fullamount of heat therefrom without'interfering with the passage of the products' of combustion up to the iue, said oven having` heat regulating means interposed between it and the lire to govern the temperature within the same. The invention will be bestv understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in 4connection with the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, with the understand-V ing, however, that the' invention is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing in the drawing, but may be changed and modified so long as such changes and modifications `marlr no material 1 departurev from the salient feat'uresof the invention as eXjf pressed in the appended'claims.
In the drawing Y' e l t Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view through the improved stove.
Fig. 2 is a similar sectional view taken at right angles to Fig. 1'.y v 1 nig. 3 is a top plan'view partlyfin horizontal section. "f The stovecomprisesxa drumor casing 1 which may be formed of a tubular casting or may be constructed of heavy sheet metal. This drum is supported upon a fire-pot 2 which in turn rests upon a base member 3 preferably rectangular in form. An ashpit 4 is provided having the usual door 5. The'base member 3 is adapted to be supported upon ordinary stove legs 6. A grate 7 is located at the lower part of the {irepot which may be lined with fire-brick as indicated in dotted lines at 8. All the above is of ordinary construction and maybe varied to a considerable extent.
Located a short distance below the top circumferential edge of the drum 1 a permanent head 9 is suitably secured, said head being imperforate and forming a tight closurefor the upper end' of the drum. An
A removable head or cover 12 is adapted to rest upon the upperedge'of the drum 1 and is provided with a downwardly-extend ing flangel in surrounding relation to the drum so that it forms a practically air-tight closurettherefor. 'The cover 12 is provided with a corresponding upstanding tube 14 ycapable of sliding over and surrounding the tube 11 and vforming a suitable connection for the smoke pipe 15. The space betweeny the heads 9 and 12 provides an air-distributing' chamber 16 int-o which air may pass as .controlled by a damper plate 17, centrally lpivoted to a lid 1S. The lid has a depending iange fitting within a corresponding openingY Aprovided centrally of the cover` 12, 1s
readily removable from its seat, and is pro- `vided with la series of openings arranged circumferentially around the pivotof the same.
These openings are adapted to register with r a corresponding series'of openings or apertures 19 formed inthe damped plate 17. A handle 20 allows ready swinging of the damper plate. p
A series of conduits or fiues 21 are adapted tol be secured to the interior walls of the drum 1 by bolts 22, said lines having their upper open ends communicating with the air distributing chamber 16 and their lower `open ends located at the lower end of the druml in 'close'proximity to the upper ends of the fire-bricks. The flues 21 have a series of outlets 23 along their side walls which serve to distribute the heated fresh air directly over the fire.
A bake oven 24C, preferably rectangular in cross section, comprising side walls, a top and bottom wall, and a rear wall 25 located in spaced relation to the rear wall of the drum 1, is suitably supported over the firepot, a short distance below the permanent head 9. The oven is Open at the front of the drum 1, and is adapted to be closed by a suitably hinged door 25a which may be swung down to form a shelf when open.
Located a short distance below the bottom wall of the oven 24C there is formed a battle plate 26, preferably integral with the oven and extending to the rear edge thereof. The
bailie plate is connected to the bottom of the oven by side walls coextensive therewith, and the space confined between the same constitutes a cold air passage, open at the -ately below the damp-er 27 in the usual lo- Y "cationV 'at the front of the drum l, and it Vwill be seen the several operable parts arewithin easy reach. y
The portv V11, which is openV at all times and connects the chamber 1'6 with the smoke pipe 14S-serves, when lighting a fire the' stove, to` draw .off andup the pipe $15 all smoke anfdgase's which may arise through the conduits 2l and otherwise escape intoV the room, the draft bein-g suliicient to 4overcome Vsuch tendency. A l a This application is adivision of an application li-led May 21', 1920, Serial N o. 383,278.
vThat is claimed is l 1. Inastove, the combination witha fire pot, and a drum supported upon the same, a bake oven carriedl within the drum above the re pot vand wholly inclosed thereby and in spaced relation with the walls of the drum, saidbake yoven being provided with a damper-controlled cold air passage open at its inner "end and arranged beneath the oven with means to allow cold air to pjass between 'the oven and the fire inorder to regulate the effects of the latter upon 'the oven.
2. Ina stove, the combination with a Vfire pot, and a drum mounted upon the saine, a bake oven comprising side walls, top and bottom walls vand a rear wall located in spaced're'lation with vthe walls of the drum and suitably supported over the ire pot, a baile'plate' also supported within the drum belowl the' bottom wall of the oven and in v spaced' relation thereto, said baille plate bc- 3. Ina stove, the 'combination' with a fire pot, a' drum mounted upon the lire pot, a
head spaced from Vthe top of the drum so as to provide an air chamber betweenV said head and the top of the drum, a series` oficonfV Y duits communicating at their upper ends with saidchamb'er and at their lower ends with the interior of the drum, a smoke outlet communicating with and' leading from Y the space below the head, a bakeoven cai-,l ried ,by thed'rum in spaced relation to the wall' thereof, the rear wall of the bake oven extending to a point beyond the lower opening ofthe smoke outlet, the topV of the bake oven being spaced from saidfhead, and a I'V balii'e yplate spacedbelow the bake oven and separated tlierefromrby an intervening air space. j 4. A lStove comprisinga lire pot, a drum Vmounted upon the lire pot, an air chamber provided at the top ofthe drum and of equal area therewith, a damper-controlled air vin'- let connecting the chamber .wi-th' thegexte4 rior, vertically.` disposed vconduits arranged' around the interiorwalls of the drum and connecting the air'chamber wvith the .interior of the drum, saidy conduits extending down to the fire fpot and having a plurality of air outlets kin its side walls, and a bake.
