ELIAS R. CLEAVELAND, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN SUPPORTERS FOR'MENS DRAWERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 137,761, dated April 15, 1873 application filed November 23, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
of the city of Boston, Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Supporter for Drawers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and correct description of the same, referencebeing had to the accompan yin g drawing, in which Figure 1 represents one of my improved supporters applied to use. Fig. 2 is a top view of the supporter. Fig. 3 is a side eleva tion, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view, of the same.
' The same part is marked by the same letter of reference in the several figures.
My invention consists in a supporter for drawers formed of elastic metal, provided with a hook, upon which the drawers are suspended, and having an upper lap which hangs upon the upper edge of the waistband of the pantaloons, said lap being provided with inclined teeth to prevent the supporter from slipping up and becoming detached from the pantaloons, all as hereinafter set forth.
The shape of myimproved supporter is clearly shown in Figs. 3 and 4 of the drawing. a marks the back-plate; b, the lap or frontplate; 0, the inclined teeth; and d, the hook upon which the drawers are supported.
In use the drawers areto be attached to the hook dand the lap b slipped over the waistband of the pantaloons. The elasticity of the metal causes the supporter to clamp the drawers and pantaloons together, while the teeth 0, penetrating the cloth of the pantaloons, prevent the supporter from becoming detached therefrom.
I claim- The elastic metallic supporter hereinbefore described, consisting of the back-plate a, lap b, teeth 0, and hook d, all constructed and operating in the manner specified.
The above specification of my said invention signed and witnessed at Boston this 29th day of October, A. D. 1872.
' ELIAS It. CLEAVELAND.
