Be it known that I, Am: HADLEY, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and. State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bracelet- Catches, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in bracelet catches and the primary object of the invention is to provide a catch which is proof against accidental opening and which at the same time may be easily operated to locking and unlocking positions.
Further, the invention aims to provide a catch which eliminates the use of solder in the manufacture thereof, and consequently to provide improved means to secure the spring in position. Still further, the invention aims to provide a catch which may be easily associated with (Yr incorporated in one of the usual connecting links of the bracelet, and to also simplify and economize in the manufacture of bracelet catches, and increase the eifectiveness and practicability thereof.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a fragmentary side edge elevation of a bracelet with the invention applied thereto.

In accordance with the present invention,
a link 1 of the general type of the remaining links 2 of the units 3 is employed and is formed with an interior spring receiving chamber 4 and with a hook 5 extending out from one end thereof. The end of the link adjacent the hook 5 is grooved at 6 to receive the contracted extension or finger 7 of the spring 8, while the opposite end of the link 1 is provided with a cut-out part 9 into which the curved end 10 of spring 8 is placed, following which an extension or arm 11 on the said other end of the link 1. is forced down to engage the curved end 10 of the spring so as to frictionally secure the spring in position without the use of solder. The finger 7 borne by the hook 13 of the spring Sby virtue of being guided in the guide-way 6 prevents lateral movement of the opposite end of the spring as is evident from Fig. 3 of the drawings. The link 1 is thickened at 1% so as to provide a firm base for the end 10 of the spring to seat on.
By reference to Figs. 1 and 3, it will be apparent that any downward movement of the end of unit 3 which is engaged with the catch will cause the hook I?) to wedge against the hook 5, thus preventing any accidental disengagement of the parts. To release the parts it is necessary to move hook 1 to the limit of its extent of inward movement whereupon the unit 3 may be moved past the hooks 5 and 18.
The unit 8 which houses the link 1 also prevents the spring from having lateral movement at its part adjacent end 10, as is apparent from Fig. 3. In looking the parts the unit 3 may be forced past the hook 13, i. 6., the latter is moved by the unit 3 to a position to allow the end of the latter to pass hook 13 and to occupy the position shown in Fig. 3.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. In a bracelet catch, a link having a hook extending out from an end thereof and having a guide associated with the outer face of said end, and a spring connected to the link and having a part guarding the mouth of the hook and slidably engaged with said guide.

In a bracelet catch, a link having a part adjacent one end thereof rounded and having a bendable arm arranged in overlying relation to said end, a hook adjacent the other end of the link, and a spring having one end curved and conformably engaged over said rounded part of the link and having its other end formed to guard the mouth of the hook, said arm being bent to seat on top of said curved end of the spring to hold the latter on and against said rounded part of the link.
