WRIST-WATCH BRACELET.
Specication of Letters lPatent.
Patented Feb. 2U, IWL?.
Application led April 7, 1916. Serial No. 89,586.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, WILLIAM R. KALES, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain lnew and useful Improvements in Wristto the wrist the strap must be disengaged from the buckle, and the rengagement is diiiicult, as the operator has only one hand free for use. It is usually impossible to slip the bracelet over the hand without disengaging the strap from the buckle, as a long strap is objectionable in appearance.
With my improved construction instead of having two straps secured to the opposite sides of the watch, one carrying the buckle, I use a single strap having a buckle at one end and of suiicient length to pass around the wrist to the opposite side of the watch and to return again for engagement with the buckle. On account of the returning of the strap it may be of sufficient length to remain in engagement with the loop on the Watch,
providing slack suicient for slipping over the hand of the wearer. The strap may then be drawn up, which will clamp the watch to the wrist, and when thus secured thel engagement of the end of the strap to the buckle becomes a simple operation.
In the drawings:
Fi ure 1 is a perspective view of a watch and racelet7 showing the stra loose and ready for engagement over the and of the wearer; 1
Fig. 2 is an elevation illustratin the watch in position upon the wrist wit the stra drawn taut but before buckling;` and Flg. 3 is a similar view with the strap buckled and secured.
In detail, A is a watch which is provided with rings or loops Band lB upon opposite sides thereof. C is a strap having a buckle D at one end thereof and of sufiicient length to pass from one loop around the wrist to the other and to return again for engagement `with the buckle. Adjacent the buckle there is provided a keeper D through which the strap is passed to form a securing loop.
In applying to the wrist the strap is loosened, as shown in Fig. 17 the hand being slipped through the loop, after which 'the strap is drawn taut, as shown in Fig. 2. It is then returned around the `wrist and engaged with the buckle D, as shown in Fig. 3.
What I claim as my invention is i 1. The combination with a wrist-watch having strap engagin loops or rings upon opposite sides thereo of a securing strap therefor having a loop adjacent one end engaging one of the rings of said watch, and a keeper maintaining said loop closed and a buckle engaging said end, the length of the strap being suicient to permit passing the same through the other ring of said watch to form a loop permitting insertion of the hand therethrough and to permit a returnbending of the strap around said loop to engage the buckle.
2. The combination with a wrist-watch having strap engaging loops or rings upon opposite sides thereof,v of a securing strap therefor having a closed loop adjacentone `end thereof for engaging one of the rings of said watch, and a buckle engagin said end, the length of the strap being su cient to permit passing of the same through the other ring of said watch to form a loop permitting insertion of the hand therethrough and to permit a return-bending of the ,strap around said loo to engage the buckle.
3. The comblnation with a wrist-watch having strap engagin loops or rings upon opposite .sides thereo of a securing strap therefor having a end thereof for engaging one of the rings of said watch, and a fastening device engagin said end, the length of the strap being su cient to permit passing through the other ring ofv said watch to form a loop permitting insertion of the hand therethrough and to permit a return-bending of the strap around 4said loop to engage sald fastening device.
In testimony whereof I WM. R. KALES.
ax my signature.
