To all 'whom it may concern.'
Be it known that d, Turnieren MCGIL'L.,
citizen of the United States, resident of Minneapolis, county of Hennepin, State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dish-Baskets, of which the following is a specification.
The vobject of myinvention is to provide a receptacle in which` a uantity of dishes may be nested or stecke scalded or rinsed.
A `further object is to provide a device having compartments or spaces adapted for dishes ont various sizes and independent compartment in which suli articles as knives and forks and small kitchen utensils K of various kinds may be placed.
rllhe invention consists `generally in vari' 6 and asimilar rod 7 is provided at. the top and curved to conform to the upper edge of the walls d. These walls, as shown in Fig. 2, have substantially straight upper edges at the rearof` the device and are then forwardly and downwardly inclined, terminating in upwardly curved forward portions which merge into the wall 5. rl`his construe# tion. rovides for compartments of less depth for t e smaller dishes and also adds to the "ornamental appearance of the article.
The interior of the device is div1ded' by partitions 8, 9, and l0 into a series of compartments 11, 12 13 and 14. The com'part ment l1 is provided at therear of the device and is adapted to receive the large plates placed on edge therein, the lateslpling sui?u ciently separated to allow t e bo' gwater and thoroughly platter, which `tions 9 and l0, as :indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2, and supported thereby. for they and particularly Patented Nev. 2li, :wird
to dow down between them. rlhe next com partment l2 is designed for the smaller plates, and the compartment 13 for the cups and saucers, and the compartment 14 for the knives and forks and small piece's`of silver. rlhe partition l0 has its upper rail l5 provided with upwardly turned ends toengage the rail 7 andy the middle portion ot this partition is below the level of the walls d, thus adaptinr the device toreceive a large may be laid upon the partiscalding operation.
The device will usually be placed in the sink or on a draining board to receive the dishes as fast as theyy are washed. Hot water will then be poured over the dishes, thoroughly scalding and rinsing them preparatory to wiping.
.Zlhe dishes are nested according to size vas they are taken from the dish water in an upr, ight, edgewise position, thereby per- A mitting a thorough dash with the scalding rinse water on both sides of the dishes, insuring the removal of any food or partlcles of grease that may be adhering to the surfaces of the dishes.
rl`he dishes, supported by the walls and partitions of the scalde'r, cannot slip vand 'become broken or nicked and their weight will be evenly distributed in the nestcr. ll`he knives and forks and spoon compartments being separated Vfrom the com artments used for the dishes obviates Ithe anger of breakage of the dishes'or nickin'g thereof by contact with the metal of the silverware. A' large tureen can be placed on the lower partition and thoroughly scalded without danger of breakage and it is unnecessary with the use of this scalder land nester to put the hands in the boiling rinsingwater or be under the necessity of handling the hot, steaming dishes. l claim as n1 invention A device of the class described comprisin'er a receptacle having a erforated bottom. and
