JOHNATHAN R. FREEZE, OF MIDDLETOWN, OHIO, ASSIGNOB. TO THE AMERICAN ROLLING MILL (10., OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
PALLET.
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, J OHNATHAN R. FREEZE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Middletown, Butler county, Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pallets, of which the following is a speciend portions 2.
the pallet are the full width: of. the sheet fromwhich the pallet is formed. but it isnarrowed for such portion. of its:
fication. This invention pertains to pallets designed for use in transporting toward a drying situation such articles as bricks and the like, and relates particularly to details of construction of such pallets.
The invention will be readily understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing .in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of 'a pallet exemplifying my present invention; Fig. 2 a longitudinal section of the same in the plane of line a of Figs. 1 and 3; and Fig. 3
' a transverse section of the pallet in the plane of line b of Figs. 1 and 2.
In the drawing: 1, indicates a flat metallic plate forming the pallet proper; 2, down.-
.wardly turned ends of the plate to form legs permitting one pallet to rest upon another;

cially when employed in the drying of brick,
are piled one above the other, each pallet carrying its layer of brick. The inturned 3, hand-holes in the downwardly turned portions .2;-=4, downwardly bent portions extending along both side edges of the pallet proper and extending from near one of the down-turned ends 2 to near the other; 5,. portions ofthe side edges of the palletpro ercausing the pallet proper to-be narrowe at its long edges; and 6, inturned flanges at" the lower extremities of the down-turned The ends of edges 6 of the end' portions of the pallet permit one pallet to rest fairly upon the pallet below it.
The improved pallet is formed of a single piece of metal fully capable of withstanding the rough usage of pallets employed in the drying of brick, and capable of being easily straightened if any deformation is brought about by reason of rough usage. The downturned edges, 4 at the long edges of the pallet-proper, not only provide air passages to facilitate the drying but serve also in longitudinally stifiening the pallet proper.
A pallet comprising, a pallet proper formed ofa sheet of'metal, downturned ends of the pallet having hand-holes, inturned portionsofthe downturned ends, and downturned edge portions. of the pallet proper extending from. near its ends and causing-v the: pallet proper: to-have a width less than that atits end, combined substantially as set forth.
