To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HERBERT A. NEwnUnY, a citizen of the United States, residing at lVhite Swan, in the county of Yakima and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tables, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an improved table and the principal object of the invention is to provide a table having an attachment consisting; of a leaf and an adjustable support for the leaf so that the leaf may be held at the desired height and to further so mount this leaf that it may be swung to extend over the top of the table if so desired.

Another object of the invention is to so construct the support for the leaf that it may be connected with the table to one side thereof and to further o construct the table that a receptacle will be provided beneath the top of the table.

This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved table, a

The table is provided with a top 10 and supporting legs 11, a drawer 12 being provided beneath the top 10 and a bin 13 having a partition 14 being positioned between the supporting legs as shown in Fig. 1. The vegetables to be prepared will be placed in the bin 13, the partition 14 being provided so that the different vegetables will be held separated and prevented from mixing.

The leaf 15 is placed to one side of the table as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 and carries a socket 16 which receives the ball or head 17 at the upper end of the vertically ex tending bar 18. This bar 18 is provided with teeth and constitute a rack bar which extends into the sleeve 19 secured to one of the side walls of the bin 13 as shown at 20.

In order to releasably hold the rack bar 18 in a vertically adjusted position to retain the leaf at the desired height, there has been provided a latching pin 21 which extends through an opening in the sleeve or housing 19 and engages the teeth of the rack bar as shown in Fig. 2 thus holding the rack bar at the desired height and preventing it from moving downwardly in the sleeve until. the pin has been drawn outwardly.

Supporting arms 22 extend from the upper end portion of the rack bar and engage the leaf when in the position shown thus sup 'iorting the leaf in the extended position and preventing danger of the leaf being broken off from the bearing 16.

When in use, this leaf may be used in the position shown in Fig. l or if so desired, the leaf may be turned to extend over the table. The rack bar 18 can be drawn upwardly if it is desired to raise the height of the leaf and when raised will be held in the raised position by the latching pin 21.

l have therefore provided a table having a leaf and supporting means so constructed that the leaf will be very convenient for use and further so constructed that the support may be connected with tables now in use.

I claim 1. A table, a sleeve connected with said table and extending vertically, a rack bar slidable in said sleeve and provided with a spherical head at its upper end, means for releasably holding the rack bar in a vertically adjusted position, a leaf, a socket carried by the leaf and receiving the head of the rack bar, and arms extending from the upper portion of the rack bar and engaging the under face of the leaf to support the leaf extended to one side of the table.
