To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, THOR Ros'rEN and Nine TRYDAL, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Madison, in the county of Dane and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in VVatch-Charms, of which the following is a specification.

Our invention relates to watch charms of new and novel construction; and the objects of our invention are, first, to provide an article neat and pleasing in design, second, one that is practical and durable in construction, and third, a device useful in numerous ways and being worn on a watch guard or chain, so as to be readily accessible, and not liable to be mislaid.

We attain the above objects by the mechanism shown in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1, is a front elevation of our complete device, Fig. 2, is a right side elevation of the case, Fig. 3, a front elevation of the frame, Fig. 4, a top view of the complete device, Fig. 5, a top view of the frame, Fig. 6, a view of the bottom of the device, and Fig. 7, a horizontal section through the back of the case on line A-B, Figs. 1 and 2.

Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

The frame 1, with the notches 6, the case comprising the front plate 2, the back plate 3, the connecting web 7, and the semi-circular clips 4 and 5, constitute the mechanical construction of our device.

The frame 1, is composed of a bottom rail from the ends of which two side rails extend upward for a distance and then turn inward a distance and again upward to the extreme top where they are joined together by the top rail, thus forming two compartments joining each other at the top central portion of the greater of the two. Near the top of the side rails, on their outer surfaces a portion is removed forming the notches 6. The frame entire is stamped from metal of the desired thickness. The case is blanked from a sheet of thin metal in such form that when formed up and completed it will just fit the outside of the frame, and cover the said frame up to the top of the outer portions of the top rail. The case comprises a front plate 2, which has the central part removed to the extent that it projects over the main central aperture of the frame only sufficient to retain cards or rial within the said frame, see Fig. l. The back plate 3, is a duplicate of the front plate except the removing of the central portion. The two plates are joined together by the connecting web 7, which acts as a spring hinge and is an integral part of the case, see Fig. 2. The sides of both plates are formed up to meet each other on the center and on the edges of each, adjacent the top of the same are formed the spring clips 4 and 5, see Fig. 2. The clips 4, on the back plate and clips 5, on the front plate are spaced to engage the notches 6, in the frame 1, Fig. 3. To use our charm the frame is filled with sheets as of a calendar, one sheet for each month as shown in Fig. 1, and placed within the case and by applying pressure on the case the clips -1 and 5, will be seated in the notches 6, thus securely fastening the entire device together.

Claim:

In a watch-charm, a frame comprising bottom, side and top rails, the top rail adapted to be suspended on a watch-guard, notches adjacent the upper end of the side rails, a one-piece metal case comprising a front plate having the central portion removed therefrom so that it projects a distance over the inner edges of the frame and adapted to retain cards in position within the frame, a back plate connected to the front plate by a web integral therewith, spring clips formed on the edges of the front and back plates, those on the back plate adapted to engage the notches in the frame.
