To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, lVALTER H. BRnMcR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and usetul Improvements in Holsters for Ice-Picks; and I do declare the following-to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to a holster for icepicks, and has for its principal object to provide a device of that character which is' adapted for carryingan ice-pick suspended from a person, and which is adapted for flexing when brought into contact with an object, in order to obviate denting the holster so as to interfere with the proper placing or withdrawal of a pick. Inaccomplishing this object 1 have provided improved details of structure, the preferred forms of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure I is a perspective view of an icepick holster constructed according to my invention, showing its manner of application to clothing, to illustrate its manner of use.

- designates the body of the holster which is formed of spring wire arranged in a close compact spiral, and tapering from its upper end to its lower endyso as to receive the lower portion or shank of the handle 2 of an ice-pick, and carry the shaft 3 of said pick within the body of the holster, the holster being preferably somewhat longer than the pick so that the lower end may flex below the end of the pick should a person wearing the holster lean against any solid object, the compact arrangement of the convolutions permitting such flexing action, but preventmg the projection of the point of the pick therebetween, and thereby protecting the person wearing the holster.

In order to properly support the holster from the person of the user, I provide same with a hanger 4 which is bent back above the top of the holster in order that the latter may hang free of the body of the wearer, the upper end of the hanger being provided with an aperture 5 through which the bush ing Got an attaching screw nut 7 is projected with sufiicient clearance to permit the hanger to pivot thereon.

The not 7 is attached to the shank 8 of a screw 9 which is adapted for projection through the Waist band of a pair of trousers, so that the head 10 will lie at the inner face of the band, a washer 11 being carried on the shank 8 so as to clamp the waist band between same and the head of the screw when the attaching not 7 is tightened.

l/Vith the parts constructed and assembled as described. it is apparent that the user may carry the pick freely therein, and that the holster may pivot on its supporting bushing to afford free swinging movement thereto and obviate inconvenience or discomfort to the wearer. It is also apparent that should the wearer lean against a solid ob ect, the spring spiral willflex to obviate bending of the holster, as would be the case if the holster were made of solid metal, leather. or like material.

\Vhile the holster will flex or bend readily under the conditions mentioned. it will just as readilv return to its normal condition, so that the chamber for the ice-pick is always ready and in condition for receiving the nick.

' lVith this construction the pick maybe easily and quickly removed from the holster and may be dropped freely therein when not in use, so as to form a convenient and readily accessible support for the pick.

Having thus described my invention, what T claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is

1. An ice pick holster comprising a single piece of spring wire arranged in a tapered throng h the apertured hanger, for the purpose set forth. In testimony whereof Iaifix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
